Completely renovated in January 2022, Highland Cottage offers the perfect location in laid-back James Island, a suburb of Downtown Charleston. Ideally located 4 miles from Historic Downtown Charleston and 7 miles from Folly Beach. The cottage is equipped with a full-service kitchen with brand new appliances, Rinnai gas hot-water heater and outdoor grill. Within a one-block easy walk, you have access to many restaurants and one block from Starbucks. We are also only 1 block away from the closest public bus stop with access to Downtown Charleston. Beach chairs and a cooler are onsite and available to our guests. Great affordable option for visiting Charleston.

Amazing stay!

This was our first time using VRBO and we had a great experience. The owner is kind and responds quick. The place was very clean and modern, the pictures don’t do it justice! This place looks even better in person! Great spot between downtown and Folly Beach. Having beach chairs on the property for us to use was very nice. Thank you for having us and we will for sure be back!

Great stay

We had a great stay at this unit. The kitchen/living area was spacious and clean, the outdoor area was lovely and private, and the bbq joint next door was a huge bonus. We were traveling with our baby and needed a crib, which was mentioned in the listing but not in the unit when we arrived, but Kit was able to provide one very quickly.

Amazing Experience!

We had a great overall experience from check-in to check-out. Communication was great, location was easy to find, and instructions for the stay were clearly communicated.We arrived to an ice maker full of ice and cold AC. The location is extremely convenient to all the local restaurants, grocery stores and a short drive to Folly Beach or Downtown. Beds were comfortable and clean as was the rest of the property. It was great to have two bathrooms for those post beach showers and the outside had an outdoor shower and hose for rinsing off if needed.We didn't utilize all the outdoor amenities in our short stay, but it was great to have beach chairs provided so we didn't have to bring our own.Overall we had an amazing experience and would highly recommend.

Made our Vacation!

The property was absolutely amazing. It had a little bit of everything. The outdoor are was phenomenal in the afternoon as it gave the family time to play outside after our day at the beach. The house itself felt like a home. The family and I have put this on our list of favorites and will plan to come back again!

This is a gem in the inside but deceptively not on first outside glance. The place could have used some shelving in bathrooms. Maybe a better cupboard for dishes. We are older and getting down on the floor to get the dishes was a bit hard. But the place was overall great for four of us. Great outside sitting and a great grill.

Excellent location and so clean!

Excellent location for a stay in Charleston! Two bedrooms and two baths and all the amenities if you want to go to the beach or just hang out around the fire pit. Communication with the host was amazing and cleanliness was top notch!

A gem

Loved the cottage, so clean. Great location. Easy access to downtown. Front room TV doesn't get a good connection to live TV even after the TV was swapped out. Our party of 4 agreed that matresses on both beds were a bit too soft, but perhaps might be better suit with a mattress platform in between the mattress and box springs. They had coils in them and the were squeaky. They might be ok for young people or those who don't have bad backs. Just a suggestion. The platforms are affordable and can be purchased on Amazon. People use them to provide more comfort on sofa sleepers. Regarding the TV, a booster is not sufficient enough, it needs its own box. The place is really nice though. I ended up casting youtube live TV from my ipad to the TV in the livingroom to bypass the buffering issue.

Decent stay in a convenient location.

Everything in the home was as pictured. It was close to the beach and May places we visited were less than 20 minutes away. Unfortunately, a few things were not to my satisfaction; towel had (perceived) makeup stains that didn’t come out in the wash, spiderwebs in some places and the countertop ice maker had a dirty reservoir which was not discovered until after we’d used the ice for 2 days. So, to the naked eye things are very satisfactory and I’m not sure I’d stay again.
