There's only 1 hotel within a 10-kilometre radius of Champagne's centre, so you'll need to move faster than a kid hyped up on red cordial if you want to stay nearby.

There's nothing better than an amazing night's sleep (and a few cheeky sleep ins) at Relais du Silence Les Jardins du Lac. This is as central as you'll get in Champagne.

You might also like to check out the Côté Océan or the Hôtel Cordouan. The Côté Océan is 35 kilometres away from central Champagne, and the Hôtel Cordouan is 25 kilometres away. We'd also suggest the Moulin de Chalons and the Hotel Residence de Rohan. The first is 12 kilometres from downtown, while the second is 25 kilometres away.

Soubise is another place where you can lay back and make friends with the room service menu. Sitting 12 kilometres northwest of Champagne, it's where you'll find the Centre International de la Mer and Hermione. Some of our recommended Soubise hotel options are the Residences de Bougainville and Hôtel Inn Design Rochefort Resto Novo. Alternatively, you could stay in Rochefort, 12 kilometres to the north of Champagne, where you can pick from the Hotel Campanile Rochefort Sur Mer - Tonnay Charente and La Belle Poule. Get a ride 25 kilometres east and you'll find Saintes, a regional centre with a population of 30,000. While you're exploring this neck of the woods, work on your tourist game at the Golf Louis Rouyer-Guillet, the Abbaye aux Dames and the Musee d'Archeologie. The Arch of Germanicus and Saintes Cathedral are a few more which are sure to offer up some photo ops. There are numerous great hotels where you can hit the hay for a night or two in Saintes.
