Excellent location, friendly staff, needs upgrade

Canmore is an excellent place to stay if visiting Banff National Park and this hotel was in a great location: a 10-20 minute walk to most of town and close to good food, Safeway, gas, and the highway. Train is nearby but didn’t disturb us. Plenty of parking, no designated spot for each room however. This place is not a Hyatt but it did fit our needs as we spent most of our days out of the room. Staff work hard and our room was cleaned daily. It did have an AC unit but it was terrible. Lots of aesthetic changes need to be made as the mirror brackets were broken, towel hanger almost fell off the door, the seal on the fridge was broken, and the shower curtain was old and ratty. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. There are picnic tables outside but the sprinkler systems kicked on nightly and soaked both the tables and our screen door! Hot tub was full of people most nights so we didn’t actually use it. Plus it was 80+ degrees every day we were there.

Entrance light inside room was flickering, TV wasn’t working, the air conditioning unit was extremely noisy. Too early to go start cleaning the neighboring bedrooms creating noise with banging cleaning tools done by housekeeping. On the other side of the neighbour, other occupants getting ready maybe to go out with a kid constantly making noise crying out of control. Horrible choice of room unfortunately. Bad timing experience.

The loft with two double beds and the bedroom with one queen was perfect for our family of four. Everything was in good shape, if a bit worn with age. It was disappointing that there was no free breakfast.

We had a group of 3 adults. The one bedroom plus 2 more beds in the loft was a great option for us. Nice to have a kitchenette, though we didn't make much use of it. Older property, but beds comfy, quiet enough, good location as a home base to visiting Banff and Canmore areas. Did not get a chance to visit the hot tub.

Beautiful accessible location close to public transportation and some good restaurants/stores. Staff were friendly. Affordable by Alberta standards, but still WAY too expensive for what they provide. Everything was extremely old, or not working correctly. Our first room did not have a nice smell of cleanliness. There were stains on the carpet, the phone was very stained and run down, the walls smelled of grease/food and people. There were tons of bugs flying around and landing on the bed (maybe from cleaners leaving door open at night while cleaning). Lots of dust everywhere coming from the carpet. We asked to be switched to a different room (it was a loft room with 2 floors and 3 beds, even though we only needed one but that's all they had last minute which we appreciated). Even though it smelled better, we soon noticed that this new room also had major issues: There was a white stain dripping down from the couch onto the carpet (you can only wonder what this would be!). There was a circular red stain (maybe blood) on one of the upstairs beds. The other upstairs bed had squished bugs/dirtyish sheets). So we decided to go with the downstairs bed. Unfortunately halfway through the night we realized that this room did not have AC, or a fan. We were boiling hot. We went to look for a phone to call reception to borrow a fan and then realized this room had no phone! They offered us 15% discount off the 1st night. We believe we should have been offered way more.
