Holidays in Beijing Central Business District

Quit your job, book a ticket, get a tan, fall in love, never come back. You don't need to do all those things, but one you should do is get that ticket to Beijing Central Business District. One of the many 'hoods of Beijing, it's an awesome base for sussing out all that this city has to offer. With 11,700,000 people calling the capital of China home, you're bound to meet some new BFFs (or maybe even your new bae) during your stay. To get to Beijing Central Business District from Nanyuan Airport, jump into a taxi, throw your suitcase in the boot and travel 15 kilometres northeast. If you're coming from central Beijing, you'll need to make your way 6 kilometres east.

This city is brimming with glorious things to do, and many of them are found near Beijing Central Business District. It's not easy to pick the leading sights here, but Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City are two you won't want to miss. The have-to-see sights of the Temple of Heaven and Beihai Park are also on your doorstep. While you're in town, consider going to some other neighbourhoods to see more of what Beijing offers. Shuangjing and Sanlitun are great recommendations that are nearby.

Curious about things to do in the centre of the city? Start by feasting your eyes on the CCTV Headquarters and the Great Hall of the People. The Lama Temple and the Tiananmen are a few more of the area's biggest draws.

A bit worn out after running around all day? Take some time to let it all hang loose at Lao She Teahouse and Yugong Yíshan!

The area's numerous cultural places, such as the Green T. House Art Gallery, the Creation Art Gallery, the C5art and the One Moon Art Gallery, can't be missed!

Occasionally an artwork can speak so loudly to you that you have to find out more about it. See if the staff can brief you about the works at the National Art Museum of China, the Today Art Museum and the Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy.

You never quite know what you'll discover among the intriguing exhibits at the China Red Sandalwood Museum, Courtyard Gallery, the Clock Exhibition Hall and the Beijing Police Museum. If you don't want to miss a thing, don't be afraid to pick the brains of the friendly staff.

What better way to top off a day's sightseeing than with dinner and a show? Check the programme guides at the Chaoyang Theater, the National Centre for the Performing Arts, the Tiandi Theater and the Tianqiao Acrobatics Theatre.

Finding entertainment for the kids can be a vital task when preparing for a family holiday. Look out for the Beijing Wax Museum, Gongti Richina Underwater World and the Imperial Archives.

If you want something a little more exciting to do with the kids, we recommend you visit Happy Valley Amusement Park, Jingshan Table Tennis Park and Tuanjiehu Park.

If you're hoping to get close to Mother Nature, spend some time at Tongzi River, Honglingjin Park and Shicha Lake Park.

Prepare a delicious picnic and invite a few friends down for a laugh in one of the relaxing urban parks nearby. Take your pick from Ditan Park, Jingshan Park, Chaoyang Park and Ritan Park.

Stock up on the essentials or look for some unique souvenirs. Grab everything you're after at Hongqiao Market, Yashow Market, Silk Street Market and Panjiayuan Antique Market.

Learn some lessons from the past at a few of the area's historic sites, such as Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, the Bell and Drum Towers, the China Museum of History and the Zhengyangmen.

If you're interested in religious sites, you should visit the Temple of Confucius, St. Joseph's Cathedral, the Dong Yue Miao and the Temple of Earth.
