It's situated 410 kilometres to the east of Indonesia's capital, Jakarta.

You don't have to be stuck in a car all day to witness a bit of nature. Just 35 kilometres out of Bandungan, Gunung Merapi National Park is a superb place to get some fresh air. More delightful surrounds await at Mount Merbabu National Park, 25 kilometres away.

Venture further afield and see what's happening in Ambarawa, 3 kilometres to the southeast. Lots of visitors come here for the Ambarawa Railway Museum and the Gedong Songo Temple. Alternatively, Salatiga is 18 kilometres to the southeast of Bandungan. Swing by this destination for convenient access to Kali Pancur Waterfall and Rawa Pening Lake.
