Book Balata di Modica hotels

We loved this rural historic hotel and its tranquility. The staff were very helpful friendly; thank you Guiseppe. Dinner in the onsite restaurant was excellent. We also booked a half day e-bike tour through the hotel, which was the highlight of our trip to Sicily.

One cannot say enough about this sweet place in Ragusa. The rooms are well appointed, the terrace room added another dimension looking out on the rooftops, cathedral tower, and hillside. We had a dinner snack at sunset on the terrace which set off the marvelous day we had at the Valley of Temples (note you could see them lit at night from the terrace). Great beds -- we slept very well and enjoyed a great shower. The best part of the stay was the help from Benny who got us a bottle of wine for our sunset snack, helped with luggage, and prepared coffee and a lovely breakfast for us before we left. Highly recommend.

Parking was easy on the street below. Had a nice breakfast. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

The hotel is very dated and not sound proof at all. There were almost 70 kids on a school trip that were out of control and running around all the halls. I had a group staying in the room above mine that were banging moving things around and screaming! I had to go down to reception around 11:30 pm because coincidentally my phone didn't work (I believe that was on purpose, so no one could call down to complain). No apologies, even the next morning. They acted like we were the problem and they didn't care. The kids didn't stop the noise until 2:30am! If the hotel is going to accommodate students, then they should not book regular clients! Breakfast was ok. Also, didn't see any hot tub.

Excellent location in Noto. Room was a little above basic but clean. Bathroom was spacious and included some toiletries. Appreciated having shelves in bathroom to put toiletries, etc. Wifi had strong signal. Staff was helpful but thought they would be a little more helpful based on other reviews. Breakfast was excellent. Coffee and tea made with love and care, and items appeared fresh with a lovely presentation. Although parking is not onsite, it is not too cumbersome; staff was helpful in explaining and providing parking options. If coming by car and parking, a consideration is that it may be a little hectic bringing large and/or heavy luggage to hotel as many of the streets are uneven and are cobblestoned - beautiful characteristic of the town. Not sure if this is a property issue or Expedia issue - hotel did not acknowledge VIP status because they mentioned it was not communicated to them prior to check in. We have not experienced this in the past. Not sure if procedures regarding VIP status have changed. Staff mentioned that if VIP status is mentioned for a future stay, they will acknowledge it.
