From Balangoda, travel approximately 95 kilometres west to reach the well-known city of Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte.

You don't need to head too far to discover some impressive natural sights. Grab your car keys and follow the road to Sinharaja Forest Reserve, 40 kilometres away from Balangoda, for a chilled-out day. Or maybe Horton Plains National Park is more to your taste? It's located just 17 kilometres away.

Take the opportunity to go to other nearby sights, such as Ereporu Ganga Waterfalls and Suriyakanda Forest Reserve. You will find them 20 kilometres south in Godakewela. Not ready to give back the rental car just yet? Bambarakanda Falls and World's End Trail are in Ohiya, 20 kilometres to the northeast of Balangoda.
