I have not seen a more stark juxtaposition of the modern with the ancient as this skyline in Baku, Azerbaijan. Baku is not yet on the tourist map so there are no hoards. This was during a walk through the old city or icharishahar. It was a memorable walk - pleasantly windy and quaint. The "City of Winds" lived up to its name!

The hotel was really lovely. The quality of the room decoration was really high, and everywhere was clean and tidy. The breakfast was good, with plenty of space and choice. The location was good for me, with boardwalk nearby outside and restaurants in most directions.
