Holiday In Austin

With the motto “Keep Austin Weird”, the capital city of Texas knows how to have a good time.

Imagine live music on every corner, urban cowboys and cowgals kicking up their boot-wearing heels to honky tonk tunes, and stuffing your face with baller barbecue for days. Spend your holiday in Austin soaking up the Central Texas sun and puttering around some wickedly unique local landmarks. We could say Austin is “having a moment”, but the city has been sending out cool vibes for ages. Already hunting down a ten-gallon hat for the big trip? You can do that in Texas, pardner. Book an awesome Austin package with lastminute.com.au and get out the door!

Things to Do in Austin

Start your Austin holiday at Mount Bonnell, a mountaintop park located on the east bank of the Colorado River. Closer to downtown, borrow a bicycle and pedal along Lady Bird Lake to feel the warm breeze in your hair. Just when you think Austin is a mild-mannered metropolis, hop into one of our awesome Austin car hire options and let the games begin at the Museum of Weird. It doesn’t need an introduction just see it for yourself. You know what else you have to see for yourself? Down on the south side of town, take a moment of silence at the Cathedral of Junk—a cathedral-style art piece made exclusively out of repurposed rubbish. For real. But wait, there’s more. While other cities might limit their street art to commissioned murals, the capital of Texas says, “Bring it on” at Graffiti Park at Castle Hills in the West End neighbourhood.

Shopping, Dining & Nightlife

As you’ve come to expect, this city is all about the survival of the quirkiest. So it’s no wonder that the shopping scene centres on independent boutiques and fun curiosity shops. Look for them on South Congress and in the vintage 2nd Street District. If you’re hanging out uptown, fill an extra suitcase with treasures in the artsy neighbourhood of North Lamar. Save up with cheap Austin packages on lastminute.com.au and go big, or go home.

Wondering where the barbecue’s at? It’s everywhere! If you want to sidle up to a big hunk of brisket, check out the tiny neighbourhood of Rosewood. While small in stature, “Rosy” packs a flavourful punch with loads of down-home dining options. Want to be able to booze and brunch all in the same place? Hurry over to Manor Road and Cherrywood.

Austin’s nightlife knows how it hold its liquor and carry a tune, so hit up the neon-lit karaoke scene. In the live music hub of Texas, you can expect stellar renditions of “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll”. Get an earful of today’s hottest—but undiscovered—musical acts in Austin’s pubs and dance halls. We hope you’ve been practicing your Texas Two-Step skills, so you can bust a move Lone Star State-style.

What’s Next?

Bathroom was seriously so dirty. Behind the toilet paper roll was disgusting. I had hair piled up beside the bed and when a pillow fell on the floor, after I picked it up it was covered in dust and hair. Staff was chill but I asked for room cleaning after a few days and it never came. Won’t be staying ...
