We’ve stayed 3 or 4 times at Excelsior, and, as last visit, had a wonderful time.
The setting is amazing, Kirstin who runs it is lovely, very efficient and an amazing cook! James who is maitre d’, is also very personable and helpful. Both of them make sure your stay is top class.
There’s a golf buggy you can use to look round the vineyard. The wine is very good indeed, and guests get to drink it free, whether lounging round the beautiful pool or enjoying one of Kirstin’s wonderful dinners.
We will go back and would definitely recommend it.
Amazing. Kirsten and James really looked after us. Dinner on both nights was delicious and the wine tasted like More!!!!. Tessa is great company on the buggy touring the wine farm. Enjoyed watching the grape harvesting on our walks.
Will be back
Had a fab 2 night stay at this beautiful wine farm. Dinner was very good with as much wine as you liked included. The pool is big with beautiful views of vines and mountains. Had a couple of walks in the mornings accompanied by the farms sheep dogs which was great. Very relaxing stay, lots of wine farms close by, short drive in to Robertson, great food also at GRAZE right next to the farm dam.
The bedroom was small but we did have our own small sitting room as well and also a lovely stoop outside with further sofa’s to relax on.
Really good breakfast, pastries, fruits, cold meat and cheese etc also a cooked breafast to order.
Perfect start to holiday after short drive from the airport.
Well worth booking the dinner option for a great evening with James attentive to every details, excellent food and wine.
Tranquil setting amongst the vines and mountains. James and Kirsten were wonderful and so accommodating.

Liked: Cleanliness
A bit of a disappointment
The evening meal was really good and the hotel grounds were nicely kept but otherwise this hotel was a bit of a disappointment. Nobody seemed to be managing it. We would have liked to relax by the pool, but with just 12 recliners for 18 guests that was not possible. Air con in the room was ineffective. Breakfast service was under-manned, uncleared tables, and flies feasting on the cold buffet.
Very welcoming, lovely room nice deli for lunch and free wine tasting . Biggest pool we've seen on our travels and very nice pool area but still not huge. Not much choice for dinner but it was beautifully cooked and one of The best meals we had all holiday,( and free wine from the estate).
A very enjoyable stay with nice staff especially James.
The pool deck was a most attractive feature with such
wonderful views - as was the garden and the lovely old

character
Kursten, the manager, is friendly, poised and professional. Staff provided a quick, tasty hot breakfast accompanied by a wide selection of cold treats.
Old world charm and decor with a toasty fireplace in the dining room.
This was my second visit to Excelsior, because it is just that wonderful. I wanted a nice relaxing, romantic, wine drinking getaway with my Husband... that is exactly what we got.. I can't thank you enough for a perfect visit for the two of us..
The hotel was on a wine estate. The meals and accompanying wine were excellent. The staff could not do enough to make our stay outstanding. Very relaxing and the sourrounding area in the wine valley was stunning.
We had a lovely stay for 1 night. Would definety stay again. Dinner and breakfast was really good. Compliments to the owner and James the butler. We managed to use the complementary bikes which was fun, even though we got soaked in a rain shower. The stand alone bath and heater in the room came to great use. Blending our own complementary wine was an added bonus.
This place is magical. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, the beds super comfy. The grounds are magnificent-- incredible gardens, stunning vineyards in all directions, and fantastic pool. Yummy breakfast too. And an incredibly friendly and warm staff. I wish I could have stayed longer!!!!
