Only thing I think needs improved is morning breakfast. While adequate the Desk clerk is to busy to keep items refreshed and clean. Added help from 6-9 would help.

I reserved our stay here based upon their website pictures, which made the hotel appear to be above average, safe, clean and conveniently located. However, I discovered the rooms were "motel" like, poor quality furniture, beds lumpy, bad remodeling work, stained tub, horrific dirty shower curtain. The room was cold. The AC would not shut off. The heater did come on. The manager "Jackie" had a too bad, so sad attitude. She would not move us to another room, but had her shuttle driver bring us a small portable heater (which didn't solve the AC coming on issue), was dangerous and smelled. Jackie was extremely rude, didn't care and refused to move us, comp our room, discount our room, offer to have the problem fixed the next day...nothing. She admitted the AC/Heating have been ongoing issues they are "working on". This hotel is actively renting rooms knowing their guests will be uncomfortable and then holding them hostage to their reservation agreements. I asked to speak to someone above her and she said it wouldn't matter because Taz (the operational manager) would say the same thing. Essentially, sorry, but not sorry. Late at night, she had the shuttle driver bang on our door as we trying to sleep to "check to see if we were still there." Every time we left our room, she changed the keypad so we were locked out and had to get new keys each time. The manager and operational manager were nothing short of unprofessional. The heating/ac issue was unacceptable.

Great For The Price

This was fine for an airport hotel. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, and they offer pretty much the same amenities as any other major hotel chain, and at least for me, the price they charged was WAY less than all the other hotels in the area. Hotels in Anchorage are expensive, especially during the summer/early fall, and I paid less than half for my two night stay than any other hotel in the area wanted. There were some rough edges, like the exhaust fan in the bathroom was a bit loose and needed dusted, but does something like that small detail make it worth paying so much more.. 3x the price across the street at the Wyndham or Courtyard? No, I don't think so. This was fine, and honestly I'd probably stay there longer if I needed to. For reference, I just stayed at the LAX Hilton and this room here at the Puffin Inn was cleaner than a flagship Hilton property. I'd book this property again.

I had never stayed here before and was a little skeptical as their price was significantly less than other motels in the area. Since I was traveling without my family, I just needed the smallest and cheapest room. It was pretty small, but the mattress was fine, the room was clean and the plumbing worked fine. I would stay again.

Very old building. Needs updating. Furniture showed a lot of wear. Trim around doorways was severely damaged. Room smelled very musty. The bed and bedding appeared clean and mattress was comfortable. They need to put some money back in to the building.
