Holidays in Amanat

Forgetting to rock up to your performance review is a pretty clear sign that you need a break. So why not step off the beaten track to Amanat and immerse yourself in the appealing beaches and coastal plains of Krasnodar Krai? (The only thing you'll have to remember is how to chill out!)

The nation's capital city, Moscow, can be found about 1,200 kilometres to the north of Amanat.

Head 15 kilometres to the southwest and you'll find Tsemdolina. It's popular for some awesome attractions, including the Novorossiysk State Historical Museum Reserve and the Navy Monument Malaya Zamlya.

About 35 kilometres to the west, Anapa is a place with plenty to do. The Gates of Turkish Fortress, Church of St. Onuphrius and Lighthouse are close by. Keep in mind, the Anapa Archaeological Museum and Dolphinarium may be more your thing.

See the region from a different perspective and sign up for some tobogganing or mountain climbing. They're both popular hobbies in this part of the world.

Take your holiday to insane new heights by going parasailing. You'll almost be able to taste the clouds as you float through the sky like a bird.

Practise one of your hobbies or dare yourself to do something new on the waters around Krasnodar Krai. There are a variety of watersports on offer, such as swimming and sailing.

When thermometer drops to zero, it's time for fun. Put your hat and coat on and have a crack at snowboarding or skiing.

Spend some time indoors exploring the hidden gems of the region's art museums, history museums, art galleries and theaters.

If the weather is good, head outdoors to experience the surrounding area's open-air exhibits, lighthouses and gardens.

Get a deeper understanding of the region's past by checking out a few of the nearby ruins, old towns and fortresses. Research their significance beforehand or introduce yourself to the most enlightened tour guide in town.

Learn about the local religion and perhaps get back in touch with your spiritual side by calling in at one of Amanat's churches and cathedrals.

'There is no love sincerer than the love of food,' according to George Bernard Shaw, but add travel to the mix and it's a match made in heaven. You're invited to indulge in two of your biggest loves by eating and drinking your way across Krasnodar Krai.

An essential ingredient in the food here is rye. One more is oats. They're worth getting a taste for if you're not already a fan.

Lymonnyk (lemon pie) is a dessert that summarises this place in a single bite. Order a serving and then get another to go!

Is there anything more refreshing than knocking back a glass of beer topped off with a perfect foam head? Quench your thirst and rub shoulders with a few of the locals over a round of Baltika Premium Lager.

You're travelling all the way to the Krasnodar Krai region, so why not put in a bit more effort to learn a handful of words and phrases in the local tongue? Trust us, it'll make your whole experience a more authentic one. You'll be glad you learnt 'Skol'ko let, skol'ko zim!', which is how they say 'long time no see'. One more for the memory bank is 'Prasti!', meaning 'sorry'.

Want to immerse yourself in the Russia Day celebrations? Circle the 12th of June in your diary and get ready to kick up your heels!

With just a little of your holiday allowance remaining in your wallet and some awesome memories that will never fade, say one last "Poka!" to Amanat.

With a little preparation, making it to Sochi International Airport (AER), the nearest airport, shouldn't be too difficult. It's just 230 kilometres to the southeast of downtown Amanat.
