Book Alligator Nose hotels

The room was clean. The property itself is very dated. It felt like we were in a retirement place for people over 65. Beach bar next-door was the only restaurant in the area open on a Sunday was not very good. At the time of our visit, the sargassum seaweed was all over all the beaches so they stunk from the rotting sargassum . They check-in is not very good as they have no central office. A caretaker of the building took care of our check-in. Language was a bit of a barrier. Don’t count on early check-in. Our particular room had a few maintenance issues as well.

We stayed 4 nights and really enjoyed the experience. The lodging is terrific and diving, jet skiing, snorkeling and sailing are right there on the beach. The restaurant and bar (which also serves food) have good food and drinks. However, it often felt as though they were understaffed and running a bit frantic. It wasn’t uncommon to see the wait staff talking when guests were waiting to order or get food. The two restaurants are the main eateries at the resort and there are no restaurants nearby. Unless you have a car, you either hire a taxi or eat at the resort. One evening, both restaurants closed for a private event and all guests had to either eat at the golf club, which was basic and not very good, or take a taxi somewhere. It’s not very logical to close both restaurants and leave your guests stranded. Poor decision. I spoke to the manager, who has been in place only a month, and shared my observations. She seemed genuinely open to the feedback. I recommend Las Verandas, but I would confirm you will have access to everything before booking.

Everything about the property was good except for the fact that we had to pay for shuttle service two and from the airport. Also, when we were staying there, we had to pay $50 each wayfor their hotel shuttle to take us to the local grocery store, which was less than 10 minutes away. If we had taken a cab, it would’ve been about $10. I spoke to the front lady desk about the disparity and she informed me that they provide safety. We didn’t eat safety at the grocery store. Very disappointed in the shuttle service that we had to pay extra for we had stayed at another local resort and the shuttle service was free. We will stay at that other local resort in the future.

Truly the most beautiful beach we saw during our entire time on the island. This private island is absolutely gorgeous. The beach alone makes it worth the visit. The rooms could use some updating, and the food felt more like filler food than anything memorable. That said, the drinks kept coming and the beach was easily the best we experienced anywhere on the island. If you want to avoid crowds and simply enjoy a stunning beach in a peaceful setting, this resort is a great choice. Unfortunately, you will need to wait for them to rebuild. The resort actually burned to the ground the same day we checked out. Quite a shocking end to an otherwise beautiful stay.
