Monastery of Alcobaca was one the first Gothic built in Portugal. It currently houses the Tomb of King Pedro I.
The dormitory is a big Gothic room where the monks slept together: only the abbot was allowed to have his own room. The Alcobaça Monastery is an impressive Medieval Roman Catholic monastery located in the town of Alcobaça. The church and monastery were one of the first Gothic buildings and one of the most important medieval monasteries in Portugal. Due to its artistic-historical importance and monumental beauty, the Alcobaça Monastery warranted its inscription in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1989. http://bit.ly/1U6DEYv

It was a travel in time kind of experience, you can feel the serenity and walking through the wide hallways and getting into the room was like getting inside a real monastery room. The ambiance was minimalist and peaceful.

With a stay at Guesthouse of Alcobaça, you'll be centrally located in Alcobaça, within a 10-minute walk of Alcobaça Monastery and Alcobaca Castle.
Room was nice and had a private bath. Heater or air conditioner with a mini fridge. Only thing I didn’t like there wasn’t staff present at all times at the desk. You need to call.
