It lies 140 kilometres to the west of Dublin, the capital city of Ireland.

Make the short journey to Attymon, 20 kilometres away. Once you've arrived, you'll want to head straight to Athenry Castle & Ennis Abbey.

Search for intricate seashells to collect or try to spot small animals like seabirds and crabs at Coral Beach and Silver Strand. You can find these fantastic shorelines 90 kilometres and 55 kilometres away, respectively.

Fill your lungs with fresh, clean air and soak up the natural surroundings of Coole Park. It's situated 50 kilometres away from Ahascragh. You can also experience more peace and quiet at Lough Ree, 25 kilometres away.

What could be more enjoyable than cheering yourself hoarse at a Gaelic football game? Watch the Roscommon GAA compete at Dr. Hyde Park, located in Roscommon, 25 kilometres away. Or, get swept up in the exciting atmosphere of a live home game featuring the Roscommon GAA.

How do you like the sound of the Ballinasloe Golf Club and Battle of Aughrim Interpretive Centre? These awesome attractions are in Ballinasloe, located just 10 kilometres southeast of Ahascragh. Roughly 25 kilometres to the east, Athlone is a place chock-full with things to do. The Athlone Institute of Technology, St. Peter and Paul's Church and Krazy Kids Fun Factory are close by. That said, Athlone Leisure World and Athlone Towncentre may be more your thing.

There's a world full of amazing flavours waiting to tango across your taste buds in Galway. With plenty of tempting things to feast on, all you need to take along is a good appetite — and perhaps a pair of stretchy trousers.

A staple ingredient in the fare here is mutton. Another is pork. They're worth giving a try if you're not already a fan.
