Holidays in Dalkey

FOMO, wanderlust, fernweh. Whatever you want to call it, there’s only one way to cure it — jet off to Dalkey. No matter what sort of adventures you want to have, this Dublin 'hood has lots going for it. One of the best bits of travelling is the people you meet on the way. And with 1,000,000 people calling the capital of Ireland home, there's plenty of opportunities to meet new BFFs. After hitting the tarmac and picking up your suitcase at Dublin Airport, your taxi will travel 19 kilometres southeast to arrive in Dalkey. From the centre of the city, it's a commute of 12 kilometres to the southeast.

With plenty of the city's top attractions close by, Dalkey is a sightseer's dream. From Royal Dublin Society to James Joyce Tower, there's lots to keep visitors like yourself amused. After taking a look at those, you're going to want to continue on to the University College Dublin and Peoples Park. A great way to soak up this city is to roam around some of its neighbourhoods. So why not make your way to nearby Sandycove and Killiney and discover their sights and sounds?

No stay in Dublin is complete without spending a bit of time at Dublin Castle. As far as renowned attractions go, it's one of the best. It's just 0.4 kilometres from the downtown area.

There are tons of reasons why so many people venture to the city centre. The National Museum of Natural History and the Book of Kells are two of the best of them. Alternatively, have a look around Phoenix Park and the Abbey Theatre.

Dalkey Island, Dun Laoghaire Harbour, The Forty Foot and the Carysfort Lodge are some of the best places for nature buffs to get out into the fresh air.

Whether you're looking to kick off your shoes and relax or have lunch with some friends, the nearby urban parks are charming places to be. Take your pick from Blackrock Park and Killiney Hill Park.

The shopping experience is different for everyone. Whether you're after something specific or you're planning a shopping spree, you can't go past Frascati Shopping Centre, Blackrock Shopping Centre and Sunday Market in People's Park.

You never know what truths will be revealed at the Blackrock College, the Dalkey Heritage Centre, the National Maritime Museum of Ireland and the UCD Micheal Smurfit Graduate Business School. These age-old sites have their fair share of tales to tell.

Whether you go for a certain team or just want to feel the buzzing atmosphere, don't miss the opportunity to grab tickets to a game at Aviva Stadium. Remember to join in any songs, chants or Mexican waves that happen while you're there, especially if hometown heroes the Ireland national rugby union team or the Republic of Ireland national football team are on the field!
