In this busy world, it’s hard to find a place where you can really get away from it all, chill out and escape the stress. But don’t worry, our Hayman Island accommodation is here to save the day! Hayman Island is located at the very top of
Queensland’s
Whitsundays, which are famous for the spectacular Great Barrier Reef. Eight kilometres in circumference with a population of less than 400, Hayman Island really is as far from the crowd as you can get. Book one of our deals at Hayman’s only resort and you’ll soon be walking along the beach at sunset, hand in hand with Ryan Gosling (maybe not, but a girl can dream!).
Aviation pioneer Reginald Ansett (the fella famous for founding the airline) bought Hayman Island in 1947. By 1950 he’d opened The Hayman Hotel, where guests had to arrive by seaplane. Since then several more renovations have taken place to turn Hayman into the fancy-pants lap-of-luxury getaway it is today. Hayman Island Resort has won a swag of awards including The Australian Tourism Awards’ ‘Best Luxury Accommodation’, so you know you’re in for an uber relaxing time. The resort is right on the beach, surrounded by palm trees and heavenly ocean views. Hayman Pool is one of the biggest in the country and comes with a gazebo bar so you can sip a cocktail as the sun sets on the ocean. All rooms come with balconies so that as soon as you wake up, you can step outside, throw your arms in the air and say "good morning, world!" (not too loudly, though, some of us will be sleeping in!).
Hayman and the Whitsundays are at the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, a 3000 kilometre stretch of coral that features over 1500 tropical fish species. From Hayman you can easily access a number of spectacular reef experiences including diving, snorkelling and seaplane scenic flights. Of course, you don’t have to be a coral aficionado to have a glorious time on Hayman. Take a bushwalk, swim or wander on the beach, embark on an evening trip up to the Whitsunday Lookout for a postcard-worthy photo op, or go on a guided five-kilometre walk to the beautiful and secluded beach at Blue Pearl Bay. You don’t have to leave the comfort of the resort to have a great time either. Hunt for designer brands at the hotel boutique, head down to the spa for some pampering or check out the delectable dining options – specialities from around the world, from Mediterranean to Asian, seafood and much more!
You can get to Hayman Island with a flight to the Great Barrier Reef Airport followed by a luxury launch transfer. For our current red-hot Hayman Island accommodation deals, see below.
Note: Hayman will be closed for renovations from 15 January – 31 March 2014 before the resort re-launches as One&Only Hayman Island in April 2014.
