Hotel review: Hyatt Regency Perth
Let’s set the scene: it’s been a week long whirlwind family trip visiting my family in WA’s Great South West. Being the loving son that I am, I decide Mum and I deserve some quality bonding time to end our holiday, so we head to the Hyatt Regency Perth.
Mum none the wiser, we jump in the car and head to the WA capital. Arriving at the Hyatt Regency to check-in, we are greeted with courteous smiles and an amazing atrium foyer. Mum doesn’t lash out often so she almost shrieks with joy to hear we’ve got a club room with lounge access including some delectable pre-dinner nibbles and a superb wine selection (from Margs of course!).

Hot tip: Being in a club room means you’re on the top two floors – or in our case the top floor! |
We get to the door and almost throw it open as we push to get in first. Mum is straight to the window and me, of course, straight to the bathroom to check out the loot: Pharmacopia organic body care – nothing less at the Hyatt, darl.

After a quick whip around to check out the mini-bar complete with all the fine crockery and glassware you could possibly need, we decide it’s time to make a quick dash for a bottle to sip while enjoying the view. We venture down to reception and get some directions to the closest bottle shop. Not only are we greeted by name, but the concierge directs me to the BWS about a five minute walk from the front door, service and convenience!
Dashing back to the room, SSB in hand, we realise we’ve only got 20 minutes to get ourselves looking dashing for our date with the club lounge. We take turns getting ready, enjoying the view from the room and sipping our wine before making our way to the lounge – just a short stroll from the room as there’s access from both club room levels.

Rounding the corner, Mum and I both feel our jaws drop as we look at the view. Two storeys of floor to ceiling glass overlooking the wonderful Swan River. We take a seat and enjoy the ’nibbles’ which are actually nothing less than a buffet of the best appetisers we could have asked for!
Mum, having been on a yacht for several months around the Pacific Ocean is all for the decadent food and we inhale fresh smoked salmon and fine local cheeses. There is fruit for those of us who have to keep our Kate Moss figure (*cough*).
After a fair few glasses of wine, we decide it’s a great time to pop downstairs and check out what the other hotel facilities are like. The pool and sauna is placed firmly on the check-list for a refresh in the morning. We find it hard to drag ourselves away from the amazing art on display. Before we make a purchase that we would surely regret hauling home, we smartly decide to retire for the night.

Returning to our room to finish off our SSB, we laugh and chat till the early hours- there’s no way we were leaving the comfort of our wonderful beds! (Yes, oops we skipped dinner – you know how it is when you are getting into the chat after it’s been a while since seeing one another. We may or may not have helped ourselves to some of the wide range of goodies in the mini-bar instead…)
A good night’s rest and a few glasses of water before bed means we wake up feeling refreshed. A quick touch-up and it’s down to the club lounge for our continental breakfast. Pastries, muesli, fruit and pretty much every cereal under the sun. Grab and go options are also available for those who need takeaway.

After gorging on breakfast (only to make up for missing dinner of course), we go for a brisk stroll and stumble across Queens Park – a fantastic spot for those who enjoy morning exercise – just around the corner. Eventually, we realise it’s time to head back to our room for packing and check-out.
Thanks for your wonderful hospitality Hyatt Regency Perth, I’ll definitely be back. P.s. Mum says you make for a great surprise too!
I really enjoyed my time in Perth. I used an AirBnB rental at the time but next time I’ll try the Hyatt. Great pics!
Excellent insight into our little city and would certainly recommend this hotel to others who come herr
The Hyatt Regency is a beautiful hotel and perfectly located in our gorgeous city. I have noticed it is very popular of weddings, balls and other events. I would definitely recommend the Hyatt Regency for guests wishing to stay at a centrally located Hotel when they visit Perth.
