The whole experience felt like spending a night at a fraternity house during college—grimy, chaotic, and far from comfortable. Let me break it down:The walls were filthy—truly filthy. The air return vent was caked with dust, and dust balls gathered in every corner of the floor. The baseboards were scuffed and grimy, clearly untouched for ages.The apartment desperately needs a deep cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. The lighting in the living area was so dim it felt like sitting in a poorly lit cave, which conveniently masked the overall dinginess.The shower looked passably clean, but I still avoided letting any part of my body touch the curtain. The peeling contact paper inside the shower was a sad attempt at decor—definitely not giving "luxury."The bathroom floor mat seemed like a relic from previous tenants. It looked used, worn, and frankly, unsanitary.Now for the worst part: the bedding. It was hands-down the most uncomfortable sleep experience I've ever had. The sheets were cheap, old, and pilled, and I genuinely questioned whether the torn comforters had ever been washed. As for the furniture—it looked like it had been scavenged from the curb. Everything was mismatched, outdated, and a murky shade of brown, making it impossible to tell just how dirty it really was.

Don’t stay here! Musty basement apartment that smells like cat urine. Entrance looks like a cave and is trashy. People on the main floor above are up all night making noise and playing music. Sheets and furniture are old and need updating. Location is NOT close to Union Station. Neighborhood is sketchy at best. No lamps in rooms other than the overhead lights. This place stinks, literally. Don’t stay here. You would be better off at the Holiday Inn off the Mall.

Old materials

It is important for the host to update the couches, beds, pillows, sheets, towels, etc… in this home. All of these items are worn and run down. This place does not meet the standards for the price. There is also a pretty bad mildew smell in the main area. The tenant above is nice but you can hear her every move! No insulation between floors. Overall, we were not happy with the environment of this place.

Good value, downscale basement apartment

This place was adequate and convenient, but certainly far from gracious. Access requires walking in the dirt around a motorbike on the walkway. All the furniture, linens and dishware are sound but old. The beds are soft. You hear anyone walking about upstairs. But you can't beat it for the price in DC, and everything works. The neighborhood seems safe - between two elementary schools. Lots of parking, though signs say 2-hour limit, but we did not get ticketed.

Deceptive listing about beds

Looking at this listing, you would assume that there are two bedrooms, two common areas, three twin beds, a queen and a double, (plus a double fold out futon that has been taken off the listing after I complained about it.)The double and queen are there, though the queen mattress sags so much in the middle that it’s hard to sleep on separate sides. The first twin bed is a narrow cot barely 2 feet wide. The other two are air mattresses, not even 6’ long, one of which doesn’t inflate. And as I said, the double futon I was promised doesn’t exist, nor does the second common area.Two teenagers were able to share the double bed (B: L only elbowed me in the face one time last night), and my 12 year old was on the couch, so we’re able to survive, but the listing is deceptiveMy husband wants me to add that the only possible candidate for “Common Area 2” Is the hallway between the bedroom and bathroom that has a kitchenette in it

Didn't realize it was a basement unit, but it was in a quiet neighborhood. It costs only around 10 dollars to get a Uber to the museums and national malls. And a safe walk to some fun restaurants around.

Not what we expected ☹️

Mattresses were stained on the exposed sides. And you sink to the middle of the mattress. The sofa seam is open and the stuffing is coming out. When you sit on it you might as well sit on the floor. The pots and pans still need replaced. Waited to get in, not a problem, but the cleaning ladies came out of the place with a mop and no bucket. Wondering were they rinsed the dirty mop? Bathtub? Glad I took extra sheets and blow up mattress. Put my sheets over the worn sheets. Took blow up mattress (just in case). Glad I did, definitely would not let the kids sleep on that sofa or the roll away cot.

Comfortable Six Night Stay

While visiting DC, this place had everything we needed. Beds for my family of 5, kitchen for cooking meals, washer/dryer, close to public transportation, and an attentive host who answered questions promptly. Would stay again! My kids lovingly referred to it as “the basement” all week!

The place was clean, the apt was as advertised. Very affordable compared to other nearby areas. Only issue I would see travelers having is the area. The neighborhood can be intimating if you're not used to that type of environment. If I was traveling with my wife and kids I definitely would've found a different place. I was with my co-worker so no biggie. Very close to the downtown area so most of our stay we were out and about. Again, great apt, bad area, great host, great city.

4 Day Stay!

I stood at this house for 4 days with my family got a concert and it was great. The only bad thing is the pots and untensils in that house needed to be changed. The oven needed some cleaning but overall it was a good stay.
