We are detail-oriented, responsive, and accessible. We based our amenities on our own travel and how we would like to be treated.

About the space:

A cute studio apartment in the basement of a newly renovated home. Guests have a private entrance with their own private bathroom. You also have use of a full-size washer and dryer. Other amenities include an honor bar stocked with beer and wine, an arcade style game with over 200 popular titles including Ms. Pac Man, and coffee/tea.

Please note that we live upstairs, but the space is private. It is separated by a stairwell and a locking door. It is comparable to a standard hotel room, but nicer.

Your health and safety are our top priorities. Even before the Coronavirus outbreak, the entire apartment is cleaned thoroughly after each guest. This includes sanitization of all surfaces and machine washing of all linens, including the bed comforter. While still providing plenty of hand soap, we have also added hand sanitizer to the space. We expect this will foster a healthy space which allows our guests to enjoy their stay. As a further precaution, we have added an air purifier to the space. It's very quiet and cleans all of the air through a HEPA filter every 30 minutes. We've also added one to the main floor of the house. Finally, there are 4 video cameras at the property. One records the front of the house, one records the side yard, one records the entry to the apartment, and one records the backyard. We also have a camera in our living room on the upper floor but there are no cameras in the VRBO space.

You will have private access to the entire space. Please do not come upstairs unless you give notice. We have a cat who loves to dart down to the basement unit. We will only come downstairs for emergencies or with your prior approval in exceptional circumstances.

Please obtain pre-approval before having guests over that were not included in the original reservation.

The space leads to the fully fenced backyard. There is a seating area and a fire pit. If you bring your pets, they are welcome to relax back there. We keep ours confined to the upstairs.

The neighborhood is a quiet, working class, historically African-American area. Our neighbors are awesome and we know most of them. We all keep an eye out for each other, though the neighborhood feels very suburban. Mark and I moved here shortly before our 2018 wedding and have made many happy memories here.

The H Street Corridor is nearby (15 minute drive) and boasts superb restaurants and entertainment. The Benning Ridge Metro station is a short 12 minute walk away. There are also several bus stops near the property.

We live upstairs and you may choose to interact with us as little or as much as you like. We are happy to help you with sightseeing, area restaurants, etc.

Our backyard is completely enclosed with a 6 foot privacy fence. It's perfect for letting your pet do its "business,” but be sure to clean up afterwards.

You may hear us upstairs walking around, but we are pretty quiet. We go to bed early and get up early. One of us is a teacher and the other a Federal Government employee, so we work very hard.

Again, we are happy to help you with anything you need or allow you your complete privacy.
