Breakfasts were excellent and in a really nice dining room. Garden/lawn area was very nice and well maintained. Lights outside were nice, music a bit loud at first, but nice blues based music. Outside campfire around 8:00 PM was nice for something to do in the evening in a small town. I visited mid-week and some things were open Mon-Tues and closed Wed, others closed Mon-Tues and open Wed. This was a bit confusing and you have to check schedules. The current flooding issues (early June 2019) also affected some of the businesses. My room/bath in the Inn was really nice and overlooked the gardens. Neutral colors (gray) added to the restfulness. Staff were really nice and very helpful. Hermann is a beautiful small farming town with a lot of history. There are several small, good museums, lots of antique stores, wineries to visit and tasting rooms (the free tour at the Stone Hill Winery was really good).
I enjoyed my visit very much. I enjoyed meeting a lot of the people even more. I originally planned to take the Missouri River Runner train, but due to flooding in other parts of Union Pacific's tracks, Amtrak bused passengers between St. Louis and Kansas City. The bus stopped at the very nice Amtrak Station in Hermann (near the river) , but the schedule was a little different. I would certainly recommend the Captain Wohlt Inn for a stay in Hermann. There are several historic buildings and there are stairs, so check about accessibility issues with the staff.
