The Neighborhood:
Corfe Castle is a civil parish and ancient settlement in the English county of Dorset, dominated by its National Trust-owned ruined castle of the same name. On the road between Wareham and Swanage, the settlement overlooks the Purbeck Hills and provides easy access to both the shore and the countryside. This area, which includes portions of the Jurassic Coast, is ideal for individuals interested in outdoor adventure, as it is close to both the Hartland Moor National Nature Reserve and the Studland and Godlingston Heath National Nature Reserve. The village is home to a variety of amenities, including a village shop, gift shop, Post Office, and a number of pubs and restaurants, while its best attractions are the Model Village & Gardens, Purbeck Mineral & Mining Museum, Dorset Adventure Park, the Boiler Gallery, and, of course, the 1,000-year-old Corfe Castle. The Purbeck Big Apple Maize Maze is also within easy reach for those seeking a family-friendly day out, while the coastal town of Swanage is well worth the journey to discover its Blue Flag and Seaside Award-winning beach, with ample opportunities for coasteering, abseiling, climbing, paddle-boarding, and kayaking, while the bay offers scuba diving for those looking to try something different. Discover the Swanage Railway, Durlston Castle and Country Park, the Swanage Museum, and a plethora of shops and restaurants, or venture further afield to Bournemouth and Weymouth for even more excellent family-friendly attractions.
