This home was nearly everything that was promised and was going great until halfway through our family was displaced by an electrical fire from 2 bathroom exhaust fans. Despite being listed, NOT ONE smoke detector activated, and neither we nor the Fire Department could find the listed fire extinguisher. This turned a dangerous situation into what the fire chief explained was 5 minutes away from a fully involved total loss fire.Per the chief this is also the 3RD time they have had to come to this home for electrical fire issues. The owners relative that showed up at the house even admitted they had many electrical issues in theAfter the fire the home had no water, no power (including the fridge), and a pervasive smoke smell that ruined our clothes. We lost all our food, had to cancel a Mother’s Day celebration for out-of-town family, and I was forced to miss a scheduled Seminary campus visit.The host’s response was unacceptable and had the audacity to suggest we file a claim on OUR personal homeowners insurance for THEIR property’s electrical failure for our loss of use. Per the fire chief, until the electrical system is repaired and safety equipment is verified by professionals, it is unsafe for guests. We had to escalate this to VRBO support because the host stopped responding after this traumatizing, dangerous experience. Until all of these things are addressed. Save your money and your safety; do not book here.
