This side of the renovated farmhouse, is the oldest part of the estate. Some hunting frescos in the dining/living room prove its origin as an hunting hut although it has been a farmer house and a stable too. The date 1850 is probably when the house was converted from hunting lodge to farmhouse. There are also 2 apartments, one for the caretaker and one, seldom used, for the owners. Very old large working farm "Podere Valle di Sotto". 2 km from the centre of Volterra, 30 km from the centre of San Gimignano, 40 km from the centre of Pisa, in a quiet position on top of a hill, in the countryside. Private: garden, swimming pool (6 x 12 m, depth 120 - 200 cm, seasonal availability: 15.May. - 27.Sep.) with internal staircase and salt-electrolysis pool-cleaning system. Table tennis, garden furniture, barbecue, children's playground. In the house: with TV, internet access, washing machine. Room cleaning on request (extra). Motor access (via unmade road). Great house with pool & Volterra is beautiful. Great base for travel in N W Tuscany (Pisa, Lucca and the hilltop towns.) No joke, a car is essential. We had a wonderful week.

Authentisch rustikale Ferienwohnung in der Toskana

Die Wohnung war anfangs schwer zu finden, das lag wohl aber an Google Maps - einer der vorgeschlagenen Wege führte eine Schotterstraße bergab, in der man nicht mehr wenden konnte.... Der Urlaub begann für uns also mit einem Abenteuer der Autofahrkunst. Welches der richtige Weg ist, kann ich jetzt leider nicht mehr sagen. Das Ferienhaus ist riesig, auf zwei Ebenen mit den drei Schlafzimmern und zwei Bädern ist wirklich viel Platz. Zwei der Schlafzimmer haben jeweils zwei Einzelbetten. Das dritte Schlafzimmer hat ein Einzelbett und ein Doppelbett. Weitere Personen müssten unten auf den Sofas schlafen, die allerdings nicht besonders bequem aussahen. Bequem sind die Bettmatratzen jedoch auch nicht. Die Küche hat noch einen alten authentischen Kochplatz (nur zur Deko) und ist sonst aber mit allem ausgestattet. Das Besteck haben wir lange gesucht, ist versteckt in der Schublade des Esstisches unter der Tischdecke;) Es ist ein altes, schönes Haus und natürlich gibt es Staub und Spinnenweben etc. Das sollte man bedenken! Highlight ist der Garten mit dem großen Pool, den wir leider im September (hatten Pech mit dem Wetter) nicht nutzen konnten. Aber für eine große Familie oder zwei befreundete Familien wäre das Ferienhaus perfekt, da man es ganz für sich hat. Der Vermieter ist ein älterer Herr, der auch dort wohnt, kein Wort Englisch spricht, aber sehr freundlich alles versucht hat zu erklären. Wifi hat super funktioniert. Nach Volterra sind es nur 10 Minuten mit dem Auto. Ach und denkt an die hügeligen Schotterstraßen in der Toskana! :)
