Nice stay, good value, potential to improve!

2 weeks ago we stayed over for one night at the Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Fort Pierce I-95. The hotel is well located just off the I-95 expressway exit in Fort-Pierce and easily accessible with a short 3-4 minutes drive. The original we reserved was not yet ready sp we were a couple choices and ultimately selected a satisfactory room in line with our expectations. beacuse we were attending a nearby concert that evening we did not explore nor had time to enjoy potential amenities on site.The next morning the complementary breakfast was simple but adequate. During our brief staff was nice and the manager on duty was responsive. Overall, the relationship price versus quality is acceptable. The only issue we objected to is the mangement policy of charging an upfront fee "for pets or smoking" which not only is not disclosed during the online booking but simply an unjustified ask when we were told about it at check -in after we clearly made the case that my wife and I were the only occupants -non smokers- and that staff could readily see we had no pet with us.
