Perfect location

Two parents and a 17-year-old spent five nights in this quiet, spacious apartment and loved every minute of our stay. The location was wonderful -- far enough from the center to be quiet and utterly residential, yet close enough to be a 15-minute walk to the train station. We felt like part of the neighborhood, taking out the trash and recycling early in the morning to the garbage boat on the nearby canal, sitting on the bench in the square right outside our door and walking throught the beautiful cobblestone alleyways at night. We loved having the two bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed plus a living room, dining area and eat-in kitchen (don't miss the orange cat across the way who likes to doze on the windowsill). There was ample space inside the apartment, a nearby Conad grocery store (5-minute walk) which has everything you need, and tons of restaurants, gelaterias and night life no more than a 10-minute walk away. We recommend Gam Gam and Orient Experience for dinner (but make reservations). Chiara was a terrific host, very responsive and helpful. It's just a short walk to the Sant'Alvise vaporetto stop, and you can leave from her to connect for Murano, Burano and Torcello. We suggest taking the night vaporetto to St. Mark's at least once. It takes far longer than the walk, but the experience of coming around the bend on the water onto the Grand Canal and seeing Giudecca and the Basilica Santa Maria della Salute all lit up is not to be missed. We would stay again.

Cannaregio comfort

This apartment is beautiful, and well-stocked with everything you need. We were very late to arrive, and the hosts were so gracious, and helpful! They had even left some snacks and coffee for us to make a quick breakfast. We considered this an ideal location, so close to many restaurants and gelaterias right on the canal, a 15-minute walk from the train station, in a quiet neighborhood, about a 10 min walk to the busier areas by Rialto Bridge and 25 minutes to St. Mark's square.

Great apartment, but here is what I wish I knew before booking

Great apartment, nice peaceful location. Photos are accurate and check in was very nice, she even let me check in early which was a big help to me. For anyone taking a water taxi from the airport, they can take you exactly to the campo in front of the apartment. Very convenient. I do wish I had known that there were only two small a/c units in the entire apartment, one in each bedroom. So during the hot summer days there was no relief anywhere except there. There are window screens in some of the windows (a rarity in Venice for some reason I will never understand) so you can keep windows on 3 sides of the apartment open for ventilation. The apartment is on the European 2nd floor - US 3rd floor. There are exactly 41 steps up to the apartment. There is ample room to move around, and the apartment would have been suitable for up to 2 couples. I stayed alone and felt perfectly safe.

Perfect stay for four or more people

Two couples stayed in this roomy apartment with two bathrooms. We had a fifth person for one night, on the sleeper sofa in the den. It was a 17 minute walk from the train station for us, and a short vaporetto ride for our friends. A evaporator stop is very close to Alvisiano. Everything we needed was there. You could hear a pin drop at night in this residential neighborhood. The hosts make sure you have anything you might need. We would definitely stay there again if we return with traveling companions.

Nice apartment in Venice

This is a nice apartment tucked away in a quiet area in Venice. The apartment is very close to a water bus stop which is convenient. Chiara was waiting in the apartment and showed us around. She was also helpful in giving us tips through our stay. The apartment is quite large with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths and a formal dining and living rooms. The beds were comfortable and supermarket close by. Overall we had a very comfortable stay and would recommend this place.

Very good

For adults very comfortable in the apartment since it has two bedrooms and two baths. The apartment is very convenient to stores and restaurants and is a great place from which to explore Venice on foot . It would have been very helpful if we had known that we could take a water bus to bus stop behind the apartment from the Piazzale Romana where we parked our car. Since we were not advised of this, we had to drag our luggage a long way over many steps and bridges to get to the apartment on an extremely hard day. So ignore the advice given on the website regarding getting to the apartment and take the water bus instead.

Impeccably clean, bug-free, great location!

Surprisingly large apartment in the residential Cannaregio section of Venice. 3 of us had plenty of room and having 2 full baths was great. Easy access to the vaparetto line and short walk to restaurants and bars. The immediate neighborhood was very quiet. Looking forward to staying here again!

Very enjoyable!!

We were received by a very friendly and informative young man who spoke english. The apartment was very spacious and well kept. The decor was traditinal Venetian. The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms air conditioned. There was no mosquito problem because the windows had mosquito nets. The Alvise vaporetto station is rigth behind the apartment and was only about four stops from the station. Also getting to the airport by the water bus was just a 10min walk away from the Madonna de Orto stop. I recommend the apartment to anyone.

We loved it!

This is an excellent property. I recommend it highly. The pictures of on VRBO are all accurate, but they don't fully convey how much space there is. This is a roomy comfortable apartment that is a few blocks (a short walk) from the Grand Canal. It is in a residential neighborhood and totally quiet at night. I definitely recommend this property for 4 people.

Pretty Canal location away from the crowds, and still convenient to rail, transport and sightseeing

Very spacious light filled apartment. A respite from the crush of Venice visitors. (especially on weekends). We gave a collective sigh of relief at the end of the day every time we crossed the bridge towards the apartment and left the noise and activity of tourism behind. Two bathrooms and bedrooms; beds comfortable. Lovely lounge/formal dining area which we did not use. The two bedrooms were light and spacious both with bathrooms. The building in which the apartment was located was quiet and secure. An excellent Conad Supermarket nearby on the next canal. Tucked away behind residential apartments, may need to ask a local for directions nearer the location, it’s tricky to find. More attention to detail in the kitchen cleaning needed. The vacuum cleaner and filters were stuffed full of dust from many previous cleanings, we had the chore of emptying the machine before it was useful. Filter needed replacing. The range and standard of pots and pans for visitors who prefer self catering could be improved. Overall a good stay, and would recommend to travellers. Two sets of keys for two couples were provided which was appreciated.

good location -bugs are a problem

Liked the location and size of this apt away from the main square. However, major bug issue-all four of us left with multiple bites all over our faces from both mosquitoes & either fleas or bed bugs. Hard to get a good night of sleep with the bugs biting us! Coffee pot cracked in two places (unusable) and towels very old and thin. Reached out to owner 1st day reference coffee pot issue -no response.

comfortable and well equipped, plenty of room.

Four adults and two young children, we found the apartment provided plenty of space for all of us. It had a traditional feel to it, which we liked, but was still comfortable and homely. The location was great. Especially useful was the vaporetto stop which was 5 minutes away - this gave us easy access to the rest of Venice and was particularly useful when we were making our way home after a long day. The owners were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay in Venice very much and will return.

Wonderful Experience

We had a wonderful time in Venice; this house is perfectly locate and very close by different main attractions and at night is not crowded like other locations. The house is very comfortable and cozy. If we go back to Venice we will definite look for this property again. thank you Paolo Chiara.

Large, comfortable apartment conveniently located

Stayed here as two couples. Easy to get to with vaporetta stop close by. Away from the tourist crowds but not far to main attractions. Everywhere in walking distance. Many restaurants to choose from locally with tasty good value food on offer. Picturesque whichever way you look and walk. Great to be part of the local life for a while.

Loved this apartment

Loved the location as it was very quiet, but not too far away from the main sites of Venice. Paolo and Chiara are great hosts offering up restaurant recommendations, tips for water taxis, etc. Would definitely recommend this vacation home - it is lovely!

Outstanding apartment in quiet neighborhood, and the hosting couple are terrific

This two bedroom apartment is just as described - elegant (even a formal dining room). Location is wonderful - away from crowds in a genuine neighborhood (plaza immediately outside, and school and park just within a minute walk; grocery story just 5 minutes' walk). Just a few more minutes and you hit the fondamente (canalside walks) where there are restaurants. Venice is hugely over crowded, but this apartment's location lets you forget that. The apartment itself is really excellent. Two large bedrooms (queen beds) one with bath, and one more bath. Good sized kitchen, including washing machine (line dry!) and all basic provisions. A large central foyer, and a small study and the formal dining room. Windows (many screened, essential for getting breeze and not mosquitoes) and light everywhere. Unit also has two stand up fans and two very good air conditioning units. We were there in early Sept. and it was hot - the apartment was cool. It's up a couple flights of stairs, but that's not really a problem. The couple, Chiara and Pablo are very responsive - we don't speak much Italian and fortunately they had enough English to manage the reservation and the check in. Chiara is really wonderful - makes you feel like you're in your own home (though it was her mother's, I believe). This is an outstanding place to stay - highly recommended.

Schöne Wohnung in toller Lage!

Die Beschreibung der Wohnung ist zutreffend. Die Lage in Cannaregio ist ideal, nur 2 Minuten zur Stazzione S.Alvise. Was uns gestört hat, war die feuchte Kälte der Wohnung. Im Hochsommer mag die Kühle angenehm sein, aber jetzt im April/Anfang Mai hätten wir uns gefreut, wenn die Heizung noch nicht abgestellt worden wäre. Ansonsten haben wir die großzügige Wohnung wirklich genossen.
