Although this hotel is officially rated five stars, the experience feels to four stars, and in some areas, not even that. To start with something positive, the mattress is very comfortable, which made for good sleep quality. However, the pillows were unbearable, too firm and flat (similar to those used in the 90s). When I asked for replacements, the new ones arrived with an unpleasant smell. The bathroom design is extremely impractical. It’s separated from the bedroom by a transparent glass wall, which already compromises privacy, and the lighting system makes no sense: it’s motion-sensor activated and turns on automatically every time someone walks in. This means that if you use the bathroom in the middle of the night, the entire room lights up, waking up anyone sleeping. The breakfast was the biggest letdown. It’s not a buffet but a fixed set of items brought to the table, and unfortunately, the quality is poor. The breads were hard and flavorless, the salmon tasted cheap, and the cheeses were dry and unappealing. The pineapple was fresh and good, but that’s about it. For anyone lactose intolerant or with dietary restrictions, the options are almost nonexistent. When I asked for goat or pecorino cheese (in Italy), the waiter said they only had regular cow’s milk cheeses. Considering this is supposed to be a five-star hotel, and breakfast is not cheap, it’s simply unacceptable. On a positive side Staff were nice.

The bed and bedding was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was huge. The lighting was not great in the bathroom but was ok. It would be great for the TV to have the option of changing Italian to English like many 5-star hotels do. Aurelio and Stefania were wonderful, as was Fabio. The front desk attendant in the afternoon was not at all pleasant; I didn’t get his name, but everyone else was wonderfully welcoming.

A great hotel to stay in with lots of historical character. The staff were very friendly, especially Fabio, who was always welcoming. The room was comfy, the breakfast and breakfast staff were great, and food and drinks in the restaurant and terrace all memorable. Also, location is great. I’d book again when next visiting Venice.

The hotel is a truly unique experiece, it is a beatiful hotel. Venice Lido with the beach is a perfect break after staying in Venice San Marco (we spent 2 nights in Venice, then 2 nights here on Lido). The hotel has a nice outdoor swimming pool (closes relatively early at 7 pm). The hotel is about 10 min walk to the paid beach (Des Bains), at the reception you can ask for an umbrella rent and towels (all for a reasonable fee), Des Bains feels like a quiet private beach, clean and not crowded at all. The paid beaches close at 7 pm.
