Disliked: Cleanliness
We enjoyed the peaceful location of Shoreline 9 Penthouse. The area is quiet and relaxed, with beautiful beaches and a shallow tidal river inlet that’s great for floating and swimming. The building is older and gets dirty quickly from beach traffic, and the complex has only stairs, with around 50 steps up to Unit 9, so it’s not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. The apartment is marketed as a penthouse but is really a standard single-level top-floor unit. The view is a highlight, looking over Hastings Point Beach, down to the inlet and up toward the Cabarita lookout, though the balcony is small. Inside, the layout is odd: the main bedroom takes up nearly half the apartment and has the best views, while the main shower, laundry and only other toilet are crammed into one small room, with some sharp tiled edges that feel unsafe. There is no air conditioning or ceiling fans in the main living areas, and although the bedrooms have fans, it still gets quite hot. The kitchen is well equipped, but the double garage has low clearance, fits only one car due to stored items, and there were quite a few spiders and webs around. There is a BP and a café across the road (good food but closes early), and you need to drive to Cabarita for more options. Overall, it’s a pleasant top-floor beach apartment with great views, but better value if priced as a standard unit rather than a true “penthouse.”
