The room was clean but had a funny smell (we switched rooms and still had a smell). Definitely a "budget" motel. Staff was nice, but we ultimately ended up checking out an hour after check in.

Great experience - all staff were helpful and answered all my questions, room was cleaned every day even though I was staying a few days, fitness room was open 24/7, pool was clean, breakfast was very good for what free hotel breakfasts are normally like, and the location was perfect for what I wanted. No complaints at all.

Staff was super friendly! We stayed for 8 nights in the same room and the only complaint we have is that the carpet was filthy dirty. Our bare feet and socks were black every night after walking around on the carpet. The room also smelled musty, likely from the carpets.

The room was old and many repairs were obvious. the door jam into the bathroom was falling apart, the blinds in the one window were broken, and the window was only into a dark hallway. When we arrived, there was no power for 30 minutes. If there would’ve been other openings in a hotel close by, we would have Back.

Our stay at Hotel South Tampa Suites was honestly terrible. The room smelled the moment we walked in, and everything felt dirty and outdated. The furniture looked old, worn down, and not cared for. The bathroom was no better — it didn’t look clean at all. We were in Room 130, and while it’s a bigger room with a full kitchen, that didn’t help much. The kitchen came with dishes, but they were dirty, and the whole setup felt neglected. They do have a fridge and microwave, but make no mistake, the place is nasty. Twice during our stay the power went out, yet the nearby businesses all still had electricity, so clearly this wasn’t a neighborhood issue. To make things worse, after housekeeping cleaned our room, they left the door wide open and all the blinds open all day. We had locked it when we left, so coming back to that was unacceptable and honestly concerning. The whole area around the hotel feels rundown and not well-kept. We didn’t feel comfortable, and nothing about the stay made us want to stay longer. This place needs major improvements. Stay away — there are much better options in Tampa.
