Smoky Mountain Riverfront Lodge: 4 bedrm on the Tuckaseegee River in Sylva NC
Take it easy at this tranquil, wooded, beautifully landscaped getaway with 180 feet directly on the lazy shallow Tuckaseegee River in the lush mountains of western North Carolina. Close to Western Carolina University, greenway, downtown Sylva, Webster, Cullowhee and Dillsboro in Jackson County.
Minutes to world class hiking, (8.6 miles to Pinnacle Park hiking area - 15-20 minute drive) breweries, shopping, antiquing, river and snow tubing, waterfalls in the heart of the glorious Blue Ridge mountains and the world famous Smoky Mountain National Park. Bring your fly rod and catch trout from the back yard! River is stocked with trout seasonally. Jump in and enjoy river tubing down to the Locust Creek river access 1/2 mile downstream. (approximately 1 hour float) Or put in upstream and float back down to the house (approximately 2 hours). In winter, ski Maggie Valley and Sapphire and ride the train in Bryson City!
Snuggle up in four cozy bedrooms with 3 king beds and 2 twins with 100% white cotton sheets. Two full bathrooms with tubs, showers and bidets include towels, soap, shampoo, and hairdryers. The large kitchen is well stocked with Keurig and drip coffee makers, microwave, air fryer, dishes, glassware, pots and pans for the chef. Two large porches are perfect for watching the river flow past the back yard, listening to nature or doing absolutely nothing.
You will feel right at home with the curated decor, Wifi, smart TV, gas fireplace, a/c and heat. A public paved road leads to the house with ample parking in the large U-shaped driveway with 2 entrances. Feels like you're far away from it all but Walmart, Lowes, gas stations, groceries, downtown restaurants, breweries and UWC are all less than a 10 minute drive.
DiscoverjacksonNC website has lots of info about the area including:
Experience Sylva's charming downtown with a booming brew scene that TripAdvisor calls “One of the Top 10 American Brewery Tours,” this historic Jackson County mountain town has a distinct groove. Sylva was also named one of the “Top 10 Cleanest Cities in the US” by Expedia.com, due in part to its green and eco friendly initiatives, including being a certified Tree City with a stunning Tree Walk that showcases over 50 different species of trees.
Go on an adventure at Sylva’s Pinnacle Park, a 1,529-acre park located five minutes from downtown. See if you have what it takes for the seven-mile roundtrip trek that ascends more than 3,000 ft. in elevation. Panoramic views await at the top. Tip: Pack water, a picnic lunch, and wear sturdy hiking boots.
• Enjoy a botanical adventure with a guided wildflower tour.
• Twenty minutes from Sylva are both the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway, America’s most visited national park sites.
• Immerse yourself in the state’s only Certified Nature Forest Therapy Trail. Pinnacle Park in Sylva is over 1,500 acres of pristine natural beauty, and visitors can experience its rejuvenating qualities first hand. Brochures available at the trailhead will help you go on a self guided forest therapy walk on the gently sloping lower loop trail at the park. All you need to unwind is a day with nature. Forget about the stresses of everyday life with Shinrin-Yoku, the ancient Japanese art of Forest Bathing. Studies show that a focused session lasting 15 minutes in nature lowers blood pressure, anxiety, stress and boosts the immune system; mental clarity improves. It’s simple to do yourself at Pinnacle Park in Sylva.
Relax, unwind, embrace nature and find yourself here! One hour highway drive southwest of Asheville (AVL) You will love your experience and never forget it!
