Online pictures of the hotel depicting the courtyard, rooms, lobby area, etc. as really decent, according to the website, guests will “experience our old-world authenticity with contemporary upscale hospitality.” However, even after we booked a room at Villa 1565, I had serious doubts we’d be satisfied with the accommodations because the hotel is a 2-star. I was right — it was a disappointment.
As soon as my family and I drove onto the property, I saw how somewhat rundown it looked. The lobby was subpar too. But after checking in, I had hopes that the room may not be so terrible, so my family and I went to the room we were given. My instincts were correct: Even though it was obvious the room was renovated, there were still signs that the accommodation was still shabby. Also, as soon as we unlocked the door, the odor in the room was so strong we could smell it right away. The furniture was torn up and the bathroom was not good either. We knew we couldn’t stay there so I went to the front desk to check out. The lady was nice enough to refund the deposit but couldn’t give us our reservation money back because we booked through a third party, which was Expedia in our case. So now we’re trying to get our money back by filing our insurance claim even if there’s a huge chance we may never see that money again per the policy TOC.
