Waited a long time, had to find a waiter to serve us. The food was ok, the veal scallopini linguine was all sauce. We wanted to have a little flutter on the pokies and we checked on their website and it said they closed at midnight but they closed the gaming room at 9.00...on a Friday night!!! NA

The Formby Hotel was very inexpensive, quiet and convenient to the Spirit of Tasmania. It's an old hotel and the facilities show their age. However, the room was comfortable, the staff were very friendly, and I had a quiet, restful sleep after a tortuous Bass Strait Crossing. I was perfectly happy with my stay.

Room was very clean and comfortable - the free upgrade was a lovely surprise. The communal kitchen could be cleaner and tidying but that all depends on guests and still serves its purposes - everything else was tidy and as clean as can be. Check and staff also friendly. Best value to for money you could find
