We followed Rick Steves advice, and got there at 4 pm, watching the hordes of day tripers leave, and stayed the night. Saint Pierre was very convenient, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, and quiet. You can eat right there. Staff was helpfull, but needs more up to date info on public bus to Pontorson, which actally leaves about 200 meters from the gate.
While this is an older hotel it was so nice to stay on the island. The hotel has a back door to the ramparts which makes it easy to move around. It was an incredible experience to be there when all the crowds left and to see the abbey by sunrise. We did the 1st tour of the abbey in the morning so missed all the crowds. The hotel has a nice restaurant. I would recommend staying here.
It does get a bit noisy in the early morning when the deliveries are being made but it motivated us to get up early, see sunrise and go to 7am mass.
Idealy located more or less at the botom of the street/hill which saves you going up and down the crowded bank with lugages.
The staff is very nice and helpful. The rooms are small but confortable.
I plan to go back .
The room was very cool with original looking ceiling beams and a great view of the town. It got hot though because there is no air condition in the room. We opened the window and the hotel staff brough us a fan, but in June, it was still hot. The ad was misleading when it stated our room was on the second floor. Yes it was on the second floor, but we had to climb 5 flights of stairs and walk about 200 meters up a slope to get to the first floor.
The breakfast isn't worth it but you really have no other choice unless you bring your own or you buy something at one of the shops the night prior and put it in the fridge in the room. But there are no microwaves in the room to heat up your food. I ate at the 19 Euro buffet early and was able to eat what I wanted, but my wife went later and they don't restock. So she had very little options to choose from.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Room is small and dark. But the location is great.
Nice, clean, comfortable room, good check-in experience. The direct access to the ramparts was a big bonus. The only negative was a misleading email from the hotel regarding advance notice of arrival time which caused unnecessary stress.
We enjoyed our stay at Auberge Saint Pierre. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The access to the ramparts was very fun! Service in the restaurant was slow but the waiter was working hard to serve a lot of tables. My only concern was a weird smell in the room. Possibly the cleaning products used?
Mont Saint Michele has been on our bucket list since French class in high school. We both wanted to stay in town and experience the MSM without tourist. The Auberge Saint-Pierre hotel was a great choice. Our room was in one of their units above the cemetery. The room was unique and charming. The staff was helpful in coordinating an early bus pick up a 4:55 am.
We thoroughly enjoyed our small, but efficient room carved out of a centuries-old building with all the modern amenities one needs. The twin beds could benefit by being latched together, thereby avoiding unintended trapdoors. All in all, a delightful once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Don’t expect anything fancy but the rooms are comfortable enough. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was hot and forceful. The WiFi was spotty, tho. After reading that the restaurants on the island were bad, I opted for spaghetti and it was fine. No complaints.
Staying on the island was magical.
