We had a lovely stay at The Black Swan. Our rooms were very comfortable and clean.
Some areas of the hotel are a little tired, but generally it is a nice comfortable hotel.
It has a lovely beer garden, which we used every evening for a pre dinner drink.
We only ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was fine, nothing amazing, but it was all ok.
The breakfast said served until 9.30, which is quite early anyway. We were down and ordering by 9.15, but a.lot of the things had run out eg fruit, little pasties. By 9.40 they had turned off the toaster and everything was cleared. We felt this should have been left until 10.00, or at least until the last people had finished.
We definitely felt we were an inconvenience coming to breakfast at 9.15, having to ask for milk, tea, cutlery etc. We don"t think coming to breakfast at 9.15, when we're on holiday is a lot to ask. The actual cooked breakfast was generally good though.
The staff were a mixture of friendly and abrupt, with some being quite curt with us. Others were friendly though.
Generally we liked it there and had a good stay.
