FAQ's:

1. What items are supplied? All linens are supplied. Please bring your own beach-type towels for the hot tub. A starter pack of items (trash bag, dish soap, dishwashing tablet) is supplied. If staying more than a couple days, you will need to bring or purchase dishwashing and laundry soap, trash bags, toilet paper and toiletries. Coffee and spices and oils are not supplied.

2. What does your kitchen have? We have a Keurig Duo coffee maker, toaster, range, dishwasher, refrigerator, oven, blender, hand mixer, cookware, and microwave. Kitchen utensils are supplied too to help make your favorite meals.

3. Wifi? Yes. Cable TV? Yes! WiFi has speeds typically above 200 Mbps/sec (better and more reliable than many cabins). Tap the Home button on the remote, choose YoutubeTV then "Live" at top right for live TV or any of the other 85 channels or sign in to your subscription apps on the 55" Smart TV. Power and service outages are rare but do occur - no refunds due to interruption of service.

4. Does the cabin supply baby gear? No, baby gear is not located on-site. The cabin is not "baby-proofed". There are rental gear agencies in the area.

5. We follow the VRBO cancellation/refund policy, no exceptions. We recommend that guests purchase trip insurance in case of unforeseen circumstances.

6. How far is your cabin to the grocery? Dollar General - 4.3 miles, Kroger - 11.7 miles. There are also multiple grocery delivery services (and food delivery too) that can deliver to the cabin.

7. What are the roads like to the cabin? Closer to Heaven is located on a fully paved single-lane, two-way neighborhood loop road located off of a major road. It has several other cabins on it but is not heavily traveled. It has some steep areas but nothing that slow speed and alertness won't conquer, but it's not for everybody - some folks may find it intimidating. Most say once they have driven it a couple of times it is just fine. It is, after all, "Closer to Heaven"! For the majority of the year, cars have no trouble with the roads; sporadically in some winter weather all-wheel drive vehicles WILL be required - the road is treated and plowed when necessary during winter weather. Checking the weather is necessary for winter months. No refunds will be given for the inability of personal vehicles to access the cabin. Please plan accordingly and watch the weather, especially in the winter months.

8. Wildlife, What could I see while at your cabin? The cabin is located in the mountains where black bears and other wildlife are common, even around the cabin. They are a treat to observe and will typically keep their distance from humans. Bears must not be approached or fed - for your and their health and safety.

9. Pests or Bugs? This is a cabin in the mountains and is treated monthly for pests but despite all efforts, they still find their way in, especially if doors are left open and especially at night with lights on. These include stinkbugs, ladybugs, occasional millipedes, etc. No refunds will be given due to pests - keep doors and windows closed as much as possible to prevent their access.

10. Pets; Yes, pets are allowed at the cabin! Maximum of two well-behaved pets. If your pet is completely house-trained (never has accidents inside) and would not be a loud (barking) guest, then your pet is welcome. If your pet occasionally has accidents inside, we ask that you please seek alternate accommodations to prevent the loss of deposits. Pets must be crated if left alone and are not allowed on furniture, (bring your own crate). There is a $75 fee per pet to be paid at the time of reservation.

11. Reservations are complete and confirmed once the rental agreement is signed and returned.

12. Smoking? This is a no-smoking (of any kind) property.

13. How many does the hot tub seat? It seats 4 comfortably.

14. Can I check in early before 4pm or check out late after 10am? We cannot accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs. Our cleaning crew works hard and needs the full amount of time to be sure that the cabin is ready for you and others. A late checkout fee of $100 will be added if you and your guests have not departed by 10am. Thank you for your understanding.

15. How many cars can park at the property? 3 regular-sized cars / SUVs can fit in the driveway end-to-end. The driveway has a large hump at the street. Just take a look as you enter, take it slow, and you'll be good! It can be intimidating the first time, but most folks acclimate just fine! There's a sign on the street that says "Closer to Heaven" - you've arrived!! At night, a motion-activated floodlight will come on as you enter the driveway. The road is a loop road, so no need to turn around. You can either back in from one side or pull in from the other side.

16. Is the cabin secluded? Yes and no - the neighbors aren't very close - you may hear laughter or murmuring of conversations and the occasional car may pass on the street. It's generally very quiet and peaceful. You can see a few rooftops of cabins but feel like you have your privacy and space. At night you feel like you're miles from civilization - no lights or sounds from nearby towns or roads. But at the same time you are only minutes from so many stores, restaurants and attractions - best of both worlds!

17. As much as we would love for you to find everything in the cabin to be just as you see it in the photos, we realize that things occasionally need repair over time. No refunds are given for amenities that are different from those shown/listed.

18. Is there a grill? There is a propane gas grill with a burner eye as well as a large charcoal grill like you see in a park (BYO charcoal).

19. It’s a wood-burning fireplace. Where do I get wood? Wood is not provided. You may bring your own, or Dollar General is 4.7 miles, most gas stations or groceries, and there are a couple of 24-hr vendors on Wears Valley road nearby, you’ll see on your drive in.

20. There is also a security deposit hold on your credit card for $500 for property damage.

21. Please note that there is a security camera on site at the entry.

22. We provide access via our Membership to the amenities at the nearby Honeysuckle RV Park, which you'll pass on your way to the cabin as you turn off of Wears Valley Rd (Hwy 321), just 5 minutes from the cabin. There you will have access to: a beautiful, large outdoor seasonal swimming pool, kiddie pool, picnic tables, lots of lounge chairs, covered dining area, fishing pond, and the seasonal full-service deli & grill with fantastic food!

Enjoy the view!! We hope you enjoy Closer to Heaven just as much as we do!

Our GPS took us right to the cabin. There are two ways to get to the cabin. One way is easy to back in the other is easy to pull in. The cabin was clean and exactly as described. Beautiful views from the balcony. I would recommend and I would stay there again.

Great place, very clean with fantastic views. The reason for 4 stars is the driveway. It was very difficult to get in and out of the cabin, especially in the dark. Hosts were nice and very responsive.

The cabin was very clean and very accommodating for our 2 fur babies and Very comfy for 4 adults. The beds are very comfortable. The hot tub was hot just how we like it. The cabin has everything you need to cook inside/outside. Although we didn’t have to communicate with the host much, when we did he was very fast in responding and took care of anything right away. The view alone is breathtaking!!! I would definitely recommend the host and cabin and will be back.

Loved the cabin, was exactly how the listing was portrayed with excellent views to enjoy while rocking on the deck with a cup of coffee. Our 4 yr old daughter looooved the “Mountain House”. Really appreciated that it was dog friendly, so our GSD could join us. The little intersection right down the mountain with Coffee and the General store was a perk, hand pies there were great!! The close proximity to Townsend which was super chill was perfect, but we could also easily swing up to Pigeon Forge for a mountain coaster or Gatlinburg to visit Anakeesta no problem. Loved being out in the mountains for the day and then being able to come back to this cozy cabin. Thanks for the memories! PLUS we got to see a bear driving down the hill in the neighborhood!

Overall, nice stay. Pros: Very attentive and personable host; quick to respond and share information. The cabin was cute and had a beautiful view of the mountains. Quiet and secluded. Hot tub was great! Access to communal pool was a nice bonus.Cons: cabin was not ready at 4:00 (cleaners still there at 4:22). Cleaning was rushed…dirty sock in drawer, gravel in dryer, dog hair in the loft bed, and donuts left in the oven.
