If George Orwell could create a hotel for the modern century, Citizen M would be his vision. It is dystopian in it's approach with small quiet rooms ran entirely by the touch of an iPad. As I was in Seattle for a photography shoot, I was only in the room to sleep and not to hang out. With that said, Citizen M is as perfect as perfect can be for solo travelers. The bed was huge and the most comfortable I've every slept in anywhere in the world. I appreciated the ample storage under the bed, however, I travel light and could barely fill a 10th of the space. The only "open space" in the room is 12 by 3 foot "walkway" between the bed and door (yes, there is a small desk and a very comfortable chair near the bed. The shower and toilet were enclosed similar to modern public restrooms (think an oval box extending from floor to ceiling) and works well for the room (and again, for a single traveler). Overall, when I am back in Seattle, I will stay at Citizen M, however, I tend to do things others don't. If you are travelling with a partner, you may want to really consider how well you operate in small spaces. Overall, I'd give it a solid 8 out of 10 with a possible 9 if the one barista wasn't so, well, off putting with her snobbery.
