We did not stay here. We went to the location to check in and met the host. The inside of the home was clean, but the surrounding area was awful. The surrounding homes are dilapidated, with yards full of trash, broken furniture, and miscellaneous items that make it look like a junk yard. We asked the host about the area and were told it is an older community, but a very safe and good area. The host was still cleaning the unit, so we drove up the street and came across a police officer parked along the road. We spoke with the officer, and he informed us the police department sent out notifications to the local residents that there is a 9:00 curfew for everyone to be on their homes, and they should lock their doors. He further told us not to go out past that time for to frequent the downtown area at night. After our conversation with the officer, we researched the crime statistics in the area, and they are well above the national average for both violent and property crimes. We never checked into the unit, and we called the host right away. After a lengthy conversation, the host stated she and her husband could not return the rental money but would refund the “CLEANING Fee.” We never even took anything into the home and should have a full refund! We drove to Orlando and rented a 3 bedroom unit at a RESORT for the same price they charged us for this location. The host was nice, but this is totally unacceptable. Th me listing should reflect the condition of the neighborhood!!!
