Cosy cottage in Los Valles Pasiegos, Cantabria: Lo Lucas 1920
Lo Lucas is a Pasiega house, one of the so-called vividoras, preserved by Pasiego families—from the Martino to the Crespo—according to traditional customs and practices. During the post-war period, it served as a social gathering place for the Pasiego community in the neighborhood and surrounding areas. Young men and women would gather at Lo Lucas for the jorra, where they would dance (rolda), play cards, and share traditional dishes.
Located in the El Ahorcado neighborhood, it offers stunning views of the Lunada Pass, Calseca, Los Machucos, Porracolina, and the Altos del Collado. The house retains its original two-level structure, with a stable on the lower floor and the living space on the upper floor. The upper floor features a spacious and bright kitchen and living area, a full bathroom, and a sleeping area, all within an open-plan space separated by the traditional tablao pasiego.
The house has two entrances, one to the east and one to the west, each with its own stone threshold. It also includes a one-hectare estate with lush oak trees, a natural spring, and a traditional Pasiego "cubillo" (cool storage room).
An ideal retreat for those who appreciate peace, privacy, and mountain life, while exploring the ancient Pasiego culture and way of life. Accessible by road, with private parking available.
