Overall my stay at El Conquistador was okay.
Pros: I enjoyed how unique the property was and thought the pool and food was amazing. The Check in process went pretty smooth and the deposit per night was fairly reasonable. Also if you happen to stay on the resort I’d suggest you take their free ferry to Palomino Island and enjoy a day at the beach.
Cons: The resort is kinda far from nightlife downtown so I’d take that into consideration because a round trip to downtown can easily range from 60-100 bucks. Also I experienced an issue where me and my girlfriend was enjoying a night out downtown and apparently front desk was trying to contact my room. While coming back to the resort we just happened to run into 5-6 security staff members that entered our room while we were gone. Upon asking them what was the reason they simply said to go speak to someone in front desk about a “billing issue”. Long story short we charged a few drinks to the room and it exceeded our deposit by 44 dollars so they demanded that if we didn’t pay that, they would lock us out of our room even though we didn’t check out yet. This left us with a sour taste in our mouths and we were very uncomfortable during our last night because we didn’t know what they were searching for inside of our room. Make sure you leave all valuables inside the safe because you never know who is entering and exiting your room during your stay!
