The space
This home was built around historic kilns that were used to fire the tile used in Balboa Park in the early 1900s prior to hosting the World’s Fair. During World War II, the home was divided into multiple units to serve as a bunk house for nurses that got bussed to Point Loma. This unit is located down in the canyon, below street level. Two decks surrounded by mature trees provide guests with a jungle-like landscape to enjoy uniquely located in the heart of San Diego.

Their are 25 stairs going down to the property (shown in the listing pictures). There is a handrail and lighting along the stairs.

We really enjoyed our stay - everything you need is provided and its a great place to bring children. We especially enjoy having breakfast on the patio, the vegetation is absolutely gorgeous!!!

Location, location, location

Recommend this cute place if you want to be close to airport, downtown, zoo, Balboa Park, etc. nice and quiet. Stairs down to the unit are no joke so pack light! Laurie was very kind and conscientious when our VRBO communication was faulty. She resolved the matter immediately and all was good.

Not it’s own property

I feel like the listing wasn’t super accurate as to the rental being one of 4 other units on the property, and there being a full time rental on the floor below. The pictures make it look like its own property. Everything turned out fine and I don’t think there were any issues with the other tenants, but it made us worried about bothering other people. The spot is beautiful though and very clean.

Charming Guest House in a Great Location

Guest house was perfect for us - clean, charming and in a great location. We found it easy to access everything on our itinerary. Parking was a never an issue and when we had difficulty entering on our first night, Laurie was extremely helpful. Would stay here again, thanks!

Lovely 3 bedroom

Traveled for a small family reunion and this was a great place for 3 couples. Nice kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, washer and dryer. Lots of steps so be aware and 1 bedroom without windows. Good communication with owner. Nice location with great view.
