Elevator leaves a nice theme but doors very heavy and not loading friendly, Rooms r very very small. No refrigerator or microwave. Stair case very complicated on how it wraps around from floor to floor. Lobby looks old and dingy.. Positive side staff extremely friendly and helpful. The beds extremely comfortable.

Fastest Elevators in the World

Lovely historic hotel with charm for days in the perfect location. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the attached restaurant was delicious. The rooftop terrace was also a great perk. The twin elevators were once the fastest in the world and a fun taste of history. Only complaint was how thin the walls are. The constant door slamming of the other rooms and elevator shook our door violently and I could hear an entire phone conversation from our neighbor. Our room was well appointed but teeny tiny, which is expected for a historic hotel. I would absolutely stay here again.

Very nice hotel in a great San Diego area. Super close to SAN airport and other popular areas. The room was on the small side but it had everything we needed. Comfortable bed, good water pressure, nice toiletries, the restaurant / bar attached was nice too.

A lovely place to stay in an old 1914 restored hotel. The elevators are original too. We had AC issue so they moved our room and upgraded us to floor 9 :-) just be aware parking. Is expensive.

Hotel is nice. The elevators questionable. It’s a purposely slow running elevator and it is and old school type where u have to open door and then slide a black metal door. Highly dangerous. Our room was a lot smaller than expected although nice. No microwave and they have the fridge full of items they want u to buy. It is quiet, clean, and quaint

I loved my stay here! When we first got there, the lobby was so cute and the staff were very friendly. There wasn’t any self parking, but valet was easy and convenient if you budget that in. The hotel was very unique and the elevators are a older and take a bit of work to open, but it was all worth the experience. I got the smallest room and it was a bit small for two but we managed to make it work! I dined at Saint James one of our nights there and the food was yummy, I would just make a reservation in advance to secure a table. We checked out the rooftop and it was cute to enjoy the views. My favorite part was the Swedish fish in the lobby! Overall I would recommend this hotel to someone who enjoys boutique hotels just as much as I do!

It was a little warm.

It was great. Rooms were clean. Bed was awesome. The shower had great presure. The A/C....well that was a huge let down. I guess someone called before me. Maintenance came in and found out it was just switched off. We left and came back. Room was hot. Checked it out. They have a housing around the A/C. That was keepin the room from getting cool. Get rid of that housing and the room will cool off.
