I made my reservation while I was on the Amtrak train the night of my stay. I arrived in Salt Lake City on Amtrak at 11:45 PM. I called the hotel to confirm that my reservation was booked, since I had made it through hotel.com. First things first, the bed was super comfortable, and the night desk attendant was extremely helpful. I was very tired when I got to the hotel, and the gentleman was very friendly. He helped me purchase a Dr Pepper from their refrigeration machine. I found the first-floor corner room quieter than I expected. Unfortunately, Amtrak had shipped my luggage to San Jose, California, and I didn’t have any change of clothes. I washed my clothes by hand in the bathroom sink and shower, and to my great surprise, this place had a washer and dryer. I used the dryer the next morning to dry my clothes, and it was a great benefit to me. I wasn’t able to use their fitness center, but it looked pretty good for a hotel stay and was right next to the washer and dryer units. As everyone comments on their breakfast, I thought it was really good. I really like their juices and the way they cook their scrambled eggs “like a pancake patty” (see my pictures), and their sausage. The waffle maker was really good, and I was able to enjoy some of their muffins, too, all delicious. I have stayed at the Comfort Inn on the East Coast and the West Coast, and I really think they’re a great value for the minimalist traveler that I am.

The staff was very accommodating. The room was very clean and spacious, a great location downtown and an excellent price. There were plenty of pillows on the king bed. And I appreciate the fact that there is a top sheet and bottom sheet with the quilt in between.. the bed was soft and comfortable, and there were plenty of towels as well as hot water. I do not expect the interior or exterior to look like the Ritz Carlton due to the price, but this was excellent and very accommodating in my mind and I would stay here again.

If not the worst hotel experience I have had it is in the top 5. The first night I returned to my room only to be locked out. It took 2 hours for their maintenance to come and get the door open - finally at 11:30 pm. Second night in different room I had to get the clerk with master key to get in room and reset lock. Two days in a row I requested housekeeping to come in and clean my room. They never came. The hotel was generally dirty with stained old carpet.

Off street parking was good, though if you come back late finding a spot is difficult. The rooms are clean but are very outdated. The hotel seems to have policies for homeless shelter. We had couple across our room who fought loudly for hours early morning.
