The hotel had a excellent location. Couldn’t be better. Breakfast was good
We stayed during a serious hot spell, and very few hotels in Europe have air conditioning, but the night breeze from the beach cools things nicely. Of course, there was a rock concert on that beach that night, so we didn't get to sleep very early. Ear plugs would have been helpful.
The room is clean and roomy enough. Breakfast was very good. Fresh bread on your reserved table will come in different types, from farmer bread to croissants. Friendly, helpful staff.
Free parking was available about two blocks away. Pay parking was even closer.
Stayed there one night. It is very well situated near the beach but no view. Parking is challenging; we went into public lot and was told that after 7 pm the gate opens and so long as you leave before 9 am the next day, it is free. We decided to wait until 9 pm, leave and park on the street which has no limits for length of stay and were able to get all the sightseeing done without paying for parking. The stairs to the room are incredibly small and so we left suitcases in the car and just brought up a duffel bag for all 4 of us. Beds not very comfortable but manageable. Agree with others who said walls are thin and can hear people in other rooms. We didn’t have breatkast there and walked over to a nearby hotel and were able to have breakfast for about same price with an incredible ocean view and better food selection.
Comfy bed & large bathroom. We stayed n the family room. Convenient to D-Day sites. We paid extra for breakfast ~ Wonderful. They had a reserved table waiting for us. We began our tour of D-day sites from here. Worked out really well. Would stay here again.
we couldn't to sleep in this hotel, because they werw a water pipe broken, but they found us another room in other hotel, with a million of excuses and very kindly.
It was what it was advertised as a two star hotel. It was adequate for two blokes doing a tour of the Normandy WWII sites and museums but I wouldn't take my wife there.
If u r going for the beach, museums and want to be close, then this place was perfect, the room is small, but clean, the bed was a little hard, but location, location, locationlocation, walk out and you are on the beach
Got in very late , the French gentleman greeting us was so friendly , cheerful and welcoming . Right downtown by shops , cafes and beach . Pizza in the hotel cafe was excellent . Very quaint and I believe built in 1898.
Wonderful picturesque village on the water with great restaurants and shops and historical attractions.
Hotel is typical old construction house style with narrow stairwells but has charm and works great.
Walking trail along cliff goes all the way to Longues-sur-Mer battery; plan 3 hours total round trip for a healthy hiker.
Hotel breakfast was a great way to start the day and worth it.
Great location...our room had a view of the Ocean. Cute little town right on the beach. Internet was not working in our room as advertised..when I mentioned it to owner he pretty much blew me off..oh well..it worked in the hallway and downstairs. Very quiet peaceful town..if you are looking for more resaurants and activity..stay in Bayeux..
It is conveniently located near the water which is nice for walking in beach at night. The choices of eating places are very limited and somewhat pricey. It is well-placed in town. We had a great view down the walking street and to the museum.
The only strange part was that it always seemed to smel like freshly cooked corn tortillas. I never actually saw any tortillas there.
Nice hotel and was central. No parking and it would have cost less to book on the day as per the advert on their window. The room was at the back and had no view what so ever. Felt we had been had by booking early as there was no one else around and it was quite - on plus side the breakfast was good and the staff were friendly.
The room was described as 'luxury'. Nothing could be further from the truth. It was a dirty, poky, noisy room at the top of a very narrow steep spiral staircase. The bathroom was basic in the extreme with small towels and a barely functioning shower. There was insufficient wardrobe and cupboard space and inadequate lighting. Free Wi-Fi was included - it did not work. Free car parking was advertised but the hotel has no car park. There is a town carpark which is free overnight about 100 metres away. Breakfast was basic with no buffet choices at 10 Euros extra. This was the first day of our honeymoon - what a nightmare! The remainder of our holiday in Normandy was superb.
This is a neat and quirky hotel with an excellent location. To get to your room with luggage can be a challenge. Very, very narrow spiral stairs....like climbing a ship's loft. We had an excellent view of the sea and slept well. Was a fun place to stay, but avoid if you are not up to the climbing challenge. We lucked out and found free parking on the street. Neighborhood is very safe.
The stay was very good, but we would welcome feedback from Hotels.com.The room was a little on the compact size, given the room we had ordered, however, it was an old building. We paid 105 Euros - without breakfast, but the chart in the room showed the bedroom - without breakfast cost 95 Euros. So rather than a saving we had an additional cost of 10 Euros. Surely this cannot be right? The staff were superb and the location fantastic, near the main square and D Day museum with sea views.
