May be ok when they’ve finished renovating…

This place is very very tired. It’s undergoing renovations but I wasn’t warned of these and there was banging and drilling throughout the day. Half the lights didn’t work in my room and there were tears in the curtains. Reception staff really didn’t care when I mentioned this.

It is a bit old hotel and there was ongoing maintenance work, but i conceder this normal.. The problem was the staff when we were checking out. We are bigger family group: couple with 9 years old boy, 2 months old baby and 70 years old lady that Dont speak any English.. The phone calls from the reception started 9:30 am that we need to check out. On the firs call we explained that we are with small baby and will need more time and we will check out by 11am and we know that can trigger late check out and we will need to pay for that. From 9:30 till 10:30 am we received 6 calls total and 4 visits to the rooms from them

They made us wait until nearly four pm to check in. When I went to check in they kept telling me it would be “just twenty more minutes”, “just five more minutes”. It wasn’t a massive deal but it was annoying. After I asked the fourth time, they offered some drink vouchers which was appreciated.

The hotel facilities were nice. The private hot tub on the patio was amazing. We were so happy we chose the room we did. Our mini fridge didn't work and when we told the employee at the front desk, he actually just shrugged his shoulders and didn't respond. We mentioned we had purchased food items because we expected to have the fridge. And he didn't respond. So our food spoiled and our plans for having a few things in our room were ruined. It was frustrating. There is no hotel services info in the room and the front desk didnt really give us any info at check in. So we didnt know much about what the hotel offered other than the spa, which we had a brochure for. I like to review the available services and pool hours etc when I check in. Overall I wouldnt stay here again. There are a lot of options in Rotorua. I'd choose a hotel with a more responsive staff.

Newly refurbished room

King bed room was newly refurbished and immaculate. Good view of lake. Only problem was layout. Settee was placed on same wall as tv so you couldn't watch tv from settee, only from bed. Elderly people would appreciate a seat. Bathroom excellent with large shower and demisting mirror. Pool is great, but a rail on steps would be a help when getting out. We used car charger for our ev.
