While we enjoyed our rooms very much, the parking situation at this hotel is not ideal in anyway. The front entrance allows for only a car or two to unload. There are no valets or bell captains to help with unloading off a busy street. After unloading, guests are expected to take their cars to a parking garage for self parking while their luggage is left on a cart in the lobby. At the front entrance we were greeted by wilted/dieing pointsettiasand and an unswept lobby. The hotel receptionist was pleasant, but not overly helpful. Our rooms were very clean and nicely furnished. The continental breakfast was meager, at best. Downtown Roanoke is a marvelous city with many unique experiences, but this hotel did not measure up. The lobby/restaurant and check-in areas seem to be a second thought. We had three rooms, and would gladly stay again if the refurbishment of this grand old bank/hotel had a better atmosphere.

It’s a good value and a nice stay for a downtown spot but definitely not a 4-star hotel. A lot of wear and tear in rooms and halls…when all the club lets out next door you end up with a bunch of drunk folks hollering which makes sleeping a bit of a challenge but I guess there’s not much they can really do about that. Maybe requesting a room not on that corner might be better for us next go round. Also the blinds/shades in our room were too small and let a ton of street light in which was annoying and felt like a cheap shortcut. Staff were friendly (minus the random housekeeping interruption well before check out) and helpful and it really is a cool spot just maybe a little over rated and not quite the standard you’d expect with a four star tag.
