great hotel - true 2 room suites for families, spreading out. Responsive to requests, eg i double booked by mistake and front desk worked with Expedia to cancel one of the rooms with no charge. we like location next to state capital and downtown.. but if a gritty area, but that’s fun

The Commonwealth has an unbeatable location in downtown Richmond — you can walk to the Capitol, great restaurants, and plenty of sights. Check-in was smooth and staff were friendly, but outside of that they often seemed disengaged, spending time on their phones instead of checking on guests. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and the hotel itself has plenty of character. With more consistent attentiveness, it would be an excellent stay.

There was hair in the bed and the AC ran really loud. I had to turn it off in order to sleep. Onsite restaurant did not have things on the limited menu. I checked out a day early but was told I could not get a refund because I prepaid.

A convenient base to see the Richmond sights

We stayed in a "Roomy" suite which was vast and would have been great for a family looking for somewhere to base themselves. However it was really badly thought out with terrible lighting, and the worst in-room coffee I've ever had! We tried to eat in the restaurant but the menu was terrible and the place was deserted, so we went out instead. Parking is valet only, but very convenient. And the hotel is ideally located if you want to visit Richmond - you can see the Capitol from the front door and it's an easy walk down to the river to explore the other sights.

Hotel booked as it was so close to 'Main Station' however station is certainly not main and a 20 minute taxi drive from Richmond Amtrak Station. Very central to Richmond. Check in easy and fast, 75 dollar deposit bit steep and hotel looking a bit worn. My room had terrible view and noisy all night due to machinery outside window, sink supporting leg missing, plug half out of air conditioner,shower floor very slippy when wet see pictures. Bit expensive to be honest for what I got. Front of staff exceptional and booked me an Uber using their own account as my English phone didn't work and I had no car. Thank you so much for that.

College tour stay

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very spacious with a full on living room separate from the bedroom. Huge bathroom. Great for myself and two daughters traveling to see colleges.

The hotel staff were super accommodating and friendly. I was very appreciative of the valet parking as it was raining quite heavy. The beds were super comfortable so that I had the best sleep possible. The food in the dining room was excellent. I will be hoing back!

The suite was so very spacious and comfortable. The bed was VERY comfortable. There is a lot of street parking in the area on the weekend. The check in clerk (Trinity) was very friendly as was the doorman. It is nice to see the beautiful park/grounds of the State House upon exiting the building.

The hotel needs a renovation badly. The rooms are in a bad shape: scratches on the walls and furniture, bad smell, old towels, mold and rust in the bathroom, malfunctioning air conditioning, and super-dirty windows. The photos presented on Expedia are deceiving. And the four-star/ excellent rating is a BIG FAT LIE! Expedia deserves a ONE-STAR rating for intentionally or unintentionally misleading its customers. Such a shame...

2 Night solo Trip

My room was very nice except for the fact that someone left the refrigerator at the maximum temperature. I was disappointed with the restaurant being out of so many items that were on the menu.
