Hotel is incredibly charming with a true German Gasthaus feel. The rooms are palatial, with those facing the Burgplatz offering fairy tale views, including of the famous Braunschweig lion. Some have balconies. Breakfast, Serben in a Great hall is fabulous and worth the extra charge. Staff couldn’t friendlier or more helpful.
An old elegant Lady of a hotel. Furnishing and carpets a bit old fashioned but clean and well kept. Location couldn’t be better to enjoy Braunschweig at its best!
Overall was a great 5 night stay at this property. The building is old however everything works as intended. Front desk staff was friendly as helpful.
Room was a good size with closet for clothes and desk to do work. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Please note the room has no climate control but it wasn't necessary during our stay in October.
The area is quite nice with lots of old buildings, shopping, and restaurants nearby. It is also quite safe. Parking in the property could be an issue during busy times and we had to park in the street for one night and it was not a problem.Would stay in this property again in future visits.
The first room we were given had a stale smell to it (possibly a previous smoking room?) so we asked for a change. This was done easily.
The hotel personnel were present but not friendly or outgoing - they did what they had to do.
The location of the hotel is wonderful! We had the feeling that they could do so much more with this spot with a bit of enthusiasm and a smile.
Small bathroom but that wasn't a problem for us.
Palatial property adjacent to the Cathedral. Built to grand specifications, but now somewhat jaded. Public Rooms were very large and impressive but the bedrooms were much below the standard expected.
The bathrooms were far too small and in need of updating. There was no safe in the room, which was a big drawback. Occupancy looked to be quite low, probably in the region of 25/30%, which would suggest the Hotel is losing money and hence the lack of recent capital expenditure. This Hotel has seen better times and needs a change of direction to maintain credibility.

Not for business travelers...
Standard hotel, but not for business travelers...
WIFI Internet quality is a real joke; and expensive for the quality you get... 10 Euro/day - with a speed of a 56k modem; not to mentionned being disconnected every 2 minutes...
Parking space very limited... They asked me to go in a public parking 4 blocks away without even offer to pay for it... they have about 25 parking spots...
Positive aspect : Hotel Italian restaurant is nice and not that much expensive...
