Food and staff related were great. The walking area has safety issues with damaged bricks and missing ones a shortage of sitting for outdoor lounging a regular room inspection would help stay on top of things

Overall this property was great. There seemed to be a consistent problem with rooms at check in. Many guests including us were given older room that were nothing like the description or pictures of the property that we booked. However the guest services manager (Jenna?) was over the top in trying to find a suitable solution for us. She was AMAZING with us throughout our stay. There is a HUGE problem with pool chairs being held at 6am and no one using them until well after lunch sometime. so if you don't get up early and play the chair game , plan on not using the pool area that day. But for us these are minor things that are NOT going to ruin a beautiful holiday in the sun! Positive things.... the resort is clean, for us the food was fantastic everywhere we ate, and they do have great food options for a smaller size resort. And the Sky bar at the top is beautiful place to relax in the evenings. The property location is excellent. Walking distance or short Uber ride to everything. So a BIG yes! I would and will come back to this resort again.

Definitely dated. Buffet food more often than not cold. Burger and fries and pizza by the pool was the best food! Smaller resort which I really liked. Everything was close and convenient. Very nice, friendly “community” of timeshare/owners. Nicest people! More lounge chairs and umbrellas could/should be added. Best lounge chairs compared to other resorts. The things I did not like were not so bad that I wouldn’t return. I would recommend to friends but would warn about bring out dated and not the greatest buffet.

This could be an amazing resort with better front desk staff all of the other bar and restaurant staff are fabulous but the rooms need upgraded and they have a lot of issues with providing the wrong room to people who book and don’t get what they want. The front desk won’t help and are often rude when issues arise there could be improvement in providing better hospitality in this department

It is a smaller resort but well worth it by the third day most of the staff know you by name and it’s very convenient to take a taxi or Uber or the bus to any place you’d like to go!

The good and the bad

Very mixed experience at this hotel. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had lovely service from the restaurant staff and thoroughly enjoyed our meals there. The building, unfortunately, has seen better days. Hot water was a major problem during our visit. Other guests we talked to had similar complaints. This seems to be an ongoing problem that front desk and maintenance staff were well aware of. After 4 days of NO hot water, we got a new room. Couple good days, then alternating cold and hot in the shower. There was no meaningful compensation for all the time and inconvenience this caused us. I realize that these are first world problems, but if they want to compete in this market, they should fix the problem and not give rooms to guests in the affected areas in the meantime.

Other than no hot water in the shower, the timeshare money grab from the hotel itself, the obvious unkempt state, lack of dining options, and partial rude staff; the stay was enjoyable. What made the place was the guests and most of the great staff! Unsure if we'd recommend or if we'll return as of yet.

Canadian couple on our honeymoon. Everything was what we expected for the money we paid. Yes, you can spend up to double the price and get a much better experience. We read the reviews before leaving, and got nervous over all the 1 star reviews. Don't let them deter you. There were some "Karen's" complaining that they are not receiving a 10/10 experience. You get what you pay for, and we were more than happy with the service, cleanliness, and food. If you want a Mexican experience, you'll get it. If you want the Hilton experience, go there, and leave the friendly staff in Mexico alone.

The resort definitely needs some upgrading. My room did look like the images on the website, but the bathroom was VERY outdated. The water in the shower was warm at best, never hot at any time of day. The room also smelled like mold which I realized was coming from the decorative pillows on the beds. The AC in the room was great. The pool and beach area was decent and clean. The food was fine, but nothing outstanding. The wait staff was very kind and helpful. The wifi only worked in some areas of the common areas, not in my room. My phone also didn't work in the room. The resort is very close to town and on a bus route. Uber and Taxi were also available here.

My room had no balcony as shown in all the pictures of the king room, my bathroom shower had no hot water and tub took over an hour to drain after each shower. The whole bathroom was run down and crusty looking, could barely see in the mirror as it was scratched or broken. Wifi is very limited in public areas but none in your room. The beach had about 10 loungers for the whole building so a struggle to get seating near the pool or the beach..

We only stayed at the Grand Pelicanos for one night. Also used the option to extend our stay at the resort till 3pm after checking out. The property is well maintained older resort and not too big. Service was excellent. We had an issue someone steeling our beach towels, but the staff resolved the problem quickly. The rooftop bar is a nice bonus, unfortunately the weather didn't allow us to enjoy it fully. The room was basic, but clean. We ate at the buffet and a wood fire oven pizza by the pool-all was good. We missed sitting on the beach, umbrellas and chairs are only available by the pool. It was decent value for the money.

The staff was always awesome, friendly and kind. The buffet was good, great variety plus food at the pool and a casual food truck spot toi. The pools and swim up bar were great, the beach is great, location is great. My only complaint is that the room was cleaned but had a strong mold smell, as well as some areas in the hallway. It's humid so the air conditioning has to be on at all times or the room gets very damp. It's an old hotel so that may be a factor in that issue. The smell was my only issue.

We would never go back to this place. For starters, we have 5 rooms total. Not a single shower drained in any of the rooms. One of the rooms had cockroaches. We asked to switch multiple times, but were told they were all booked. The food was okay. It was frustrating that most of the staff didn't understand english. That made it difficult to communicate. Our purse was stolen one day out by the pool. The staff was not helpful at all when it came to this. One of the members of our group was handicapped. It was not a handicap-friendly place. The staff wasn't willing to help out when needed. It was just overall a nightmare. We do not recommend this place unless you speak Spanish. We also do not recommend it if you need clean bug free rooms, showers that drain and bathrooms that flood when showering or handicap friendly.

The property itself is well maintained and provides many loungers around the pool or on a sandy space looking out on the ocean. The staff are very good. Cannot say enough about Sergio who works in the Pergolas restaurant is exceptional. He is professional and goes above and beyond to serve his clientele.
