It's an interesting hotel but tired! Must be an ex naval personnel club or hotel I would guess due to the large collection of naval memorabilia. Nice and decorative inside in an old fashioned way. Convenient for the Historic Dockyard which is only about 10 minutes walk away and was the reason for our trip, and Gunwarf Quays. Good cooked breakfast at a reasonable price. Nice and clean and a comfortable bed. Enjoyable stay but wouldn't stay here again.
This is a beautiful, historic hotel. We had 2 family rooms which were clean. Location is excellent for visiting the old historic area of town. We stayed 1 night before ferry to France the next morning. Coffee/tea service in the room was very good. Definitely would stay again.
Our room 417 is far from lobby and has to climb up few stairs which is hard with Big luggage. Room is very dated. Shower faucet is hard to understand how to use, spent mins to figure it out. Bathroom light and exhaust fan is hard to figure out how to turn on and off. Certainly not expecting such condition for the price we pay!
The staff were lovely and very friendly. The location was good being only a 10 minute walk from Gunwarf Quayes. The pool is a great leisure facility.
We stayed for 1 night in room 113. The room was clean and spacious however a couple of things were not fit for purpose and needed replacing.
The mattress on the right hand side of the bed had a big dip in it and was like sleeping in a hammock - very uncomfortable. There were also crunchy brown bits in the kettle which (despite rinsing them out) kept reappearing each time the kettle was boiled.
Great place to stay - so close to Gunwharf Quays and the Dockyard. Staff so lovely and even though limited parking the car park across the road made it super easy. Will def stay again.
Much more than I anticipated for the price I paid. Loved the genuine nautical memorabilia.
Staff were courteous, friendly and nothing was too much trouble - thank you!
