Extremely Disappointing, Not Worth the Cost
We have traveled extensively on 4 different continents and stayed in many different rentals and hotels. This was one of our most disappointing rentals. The unit we stayed in is 100% underground, it is essentially a basement unit with an external stairwell (this is not mentioned in the listing at all). There are no views of anything except the stairwell. We referred to the unit as “the dungeon” because it was damp, had a musty smell and had mosquitoes, moths and ants in the unit. There are no screens on the windows and we could not open the windows due to mosquitoes and moths. Despite the listing on Vrbo, there is no “hot tub”, which we found out after asking the owner where the hot tub was and his final answer was that we could put hot water in the bathtub. I do not think this was a misunderstanding based on language issues. The patio” is a joke, it is actually the stairwell landing and not really a patio at all, maybe 5’ by 5” at the bottom of the stairwell, completely below ground level with no views of anything other than the stairwell and front door. Our Wi-Fi service was out one night. The “TV” is a smallish, old Samsung computer monitor with basic cable, no ability to connect any streaming device other than 1 USB port. No way to use a Firestick, Hulu or other streaming device/service. It did come with basic cable, but CNN, for example, was only in Portuguese. Finally, washing and drying laundry takes 2-3 hours, possibly more and it is very confusing.
